MOVEFORLEX was a total forgive when caught wide no cover at Caulfield. His first-up run prior was sound. Must include first-up winner BLUSHING TYCOON. Being official starter at Flemington required horsemanship of the highest order in the days before automatic starting machinery. He is credited with starting 33 Melbourne Cups, including the first in 1861. His equine interests were wide. He bred and trained horses, rode in steeplechases, ran Kirk’s Horse Bazaar and Cobb and Co. coaches, was Master of the Melbourne Hunt Club, and was a foundation Victoria Racing Club committee member. In 2018 he was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame. GEORGE JOHN WATSON
