The Foundation for the Tri-State Community engages donors to build community wealth for a stronger region. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees seeks to respond to current community needs through this Community Grant process. Since the Foundation’s mission is broad, it enjoys supporting a variety of projects the improve the quality of life in the Tri-State. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) charities and other organizations that meet our charitable grant guidelines. Project proposals must serve residents of the tri-state area, which includes Boyd and Greenup Counties in Kentucky, Cabell and Wayne Counties in West Virginia, and Lawrence County, Ohio.

To be eligible for a Foundation grant, an applicant must be a private, non-profit organization tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a public institution, such as a public school or government agency. Requests from individuals are not accepted. The applicant must be located in Jackson County, WV or the program to be funded must serve residents of Jackson County. Grant requests will be considered based on the applicant’s service area and on grant funds available. Grants typically range from $1,000 – $10,000.

The Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation is a regional philanthropy focusing on West Virginia and Southwestern Pennsylvania.
