The Boston Foundation invests substantial resources to help proven or promising nonprofits that share its core values and are highly aligned with its priority strategies and approaches to deepen their impact or bring their work to scale. One strategic focus includes promoting healthy behaviors among Boston residents and increase access to healthy food and opportunities for physical activity. Three principal types of grants are considered through the Foundation’s competitive grants process: general operating support, project support and special opportunity grants. The application process for all grants begins with the submission of an online Letter of Inquiry (LOI), which is accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Fallon Health awards grants in the range of $5,000 to $45,000, per proposal, with the average awards of $10,000 to $20,000. We fund new programs or the continuation or expansion of existing programs that address one or more of our focus areas for funding. In past years, we have given grants to nonprofit health and social service agencies, public schools, city or town agencies, community health centers, community mental health agencies, and hospitals. The TD Charitable Foundation partners with area non-profit and public institutions to create meaningful change and improvement in our communities. One such area is education, which includes after-school programs that reinforce basic learning skills and education-focused youth development programs and initiatives.
