The Northland Foundation’s Grant Program provides financial and technical resources to 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofits, schools, and other public entities serving Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis Counties. Support is directed toward two priorities areas: children, youth, and families and individual and community wellbeing. Applicants are also encouraged to incorporate one or more strategic approaches into their work. For more details, review the grant guidelines and strategic approaches. For grant program questions, please contact Erik Torch, the Northland Foundation’s Director of Grantmaking. The Northland Foundation also offers small grants through the KIDS PLUS Youth In Philanthropy Program. Community and school groups and nonprofit organizations may apply for up to $1,000 for youth-led projects.

The Outdoor Recreation Grant Program provides matching grants to local units of government for up to 50% of the cost of acquisition, development and/or redevelopment of local parks and recreation areas. Only one park may be included in an application and only one application per park. Applicants are eligible to submit more than one application and receive more than one grant. Significant progress must be completed on active projects before an additional proposal can be submitted. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation funds successful health programs and initiatives that are working to improve the health of Mississippians. To be eligible for funding, organizations must be located in Mississippi, be a 501(c)(3) charitable organization or a government entity, and aligned to the Foundation’s goals for a healthier Mississippi. The first step in applying for a grant is to submit a brief Letter of Inquiry. The Foundation accepts letters throughout the year.
