Team Vivier was shifted over to the ‘B’ final schedule for one last qualifying chance BHBJOTU5FBN.BDLBZ BSJOLCBTFEPVUPGUIF 3$.1$VSMJOH$MVCJO0UUBXB5IFUXPSJOLT battled through the seven regular ends and into an eighth extra round with Vivier taking the game and the provincial qualifier berth 7-6 on the last rock. “We were very fortunate with some of our shots,” said Allen. “With our skip’s last shot, she had a completely open house, so she had a simple shot for the win.” “We out-curled our opponents,” said Lovitt, “and we were able to stay cool under QSFTTVSFui:PVDPVMEUFMMTPNFPGUIFPUIFS teams were nervous,” added Allen. “We just did our own thing.” Provincials plan The game plan now for Allen and Lovitt for the provincials is simple. Keep it simple. “We’re taking it one game, one shot at a time,” said Allen. “Our starting goal is to make it to the (tournament) playoffs for the UPQGPVSu"EEFE-PWJUUi:PVDBOUXJOXJUIPVU getting there first.” The two Vankleek Hill curlers are familiar with most of their known competition for the provincials. “We’ve played with most of them,” said Allen. “We know how they play, and we know how to beat them. When we stay positive and have fun on the ice, we are hard to beat. That’s when we play our best.” “Take it one shot at a time,” said Lovitt. “Don’t focus on the outcome, just focus on the task at hand.”
The Vankleek Hill half of Team Vivier is hard at work perfecting their curling skills for another provincial competition and they’re looking forward to it. “I’m pretty excited to go,” said Caitlin Allen, “to get a second shot to represent Ontario.” “I think I’m excited,” added Émilie Lovitt. “It’s going to be a fun event. A lot of our (curling) friends are going, so it will be a good time, while we’re still being focused on our goal.” The goal for the always-smiling pair is to beat the competition in Paris, Ontario, in .BSDI*GUIFZXJO UIFZMMFBSOUIFNTFMWFTB chance to represent Ontario in their division at the national curling championships later this year. Close call Allen and Lovitt are part of the Team Vivier XPNFOTSJOLPVUPGUIF/BWBO$VSMJOH$MVC They and their teammates owe their chance at a provincial title to a second chance at the Brockville tournament, over the Ground Hog Day weekend, after they swept away the competition during the ‘A’ division, until the final game against Team Deschenes from .BOPUJDL XIPUPPLUIFA"UJUMFJOUIFMBTU round of the match. “It was very close,” said Allen. “We domi- nated the game, and then we missed our last shot.”
