Welcome to the 15th Annual Herbster Angus Farms Bull and Female Sale.We are honored to have you with us as we present a set of bulls that represent the very best of our breeding program. The cattle business is experiencing a season of prosperity unlike any in its history, and we are grateful to be raising cattle in a time when quality and performance are rewarded at every level of production. At Herbster Angus Farms, we are committed to producing cattle that add pounds and productivity to your cow herd. Our focus remains unwavering: sound feet and legs, structural integrity, genuine muscle, balanced and relevant EPD profiles, and the kind of longevity that keeps daughters in production for years to come.We believe a great herd sire does more than influence one calf crop. He leaves behind daughters who are fertile, functional, and built to last in real-world conditions. Introducing fresh, powerful genetics is not a trend for us. It is a disciplined strategy. We continually search for cattle that move the needle—sires and donor females that accelerate growth, improve carcass merit, strengthen maternal function, and enhance overall herd efficiency. Every mating is planned with intent because we understand that the right genetics compound over time. Our goal is simple: to help you build a cow herd that is more profitable, more productive, and more durable with each generation. Selecting a herd sire is one of the most important decisions you make.We respect that responsibility. Only the top 25% of our bull calf crop earns a place in this sale. Each bull has been rigorously evaluated from nose to tail for phenotype, performance, disposition, and structural correctness. When you purchase a bull from Herbster Angus Farms, you are investing in cattle designed to withstand the pressures of commercial production while adding measurable value to your program. We look forward to welcoming you, shaking your hand, and talking cattle on sale day in Marysville. Thank you for your trust, your friendship, and your continued support of our program. “When Trey and Dayna Wasserburger of T/D ANGUS at Rishel Ranch make breeding decisions, they revolve around the mantra ‘Most of the Best.’ Doc Ryan is the epitome of that. There’s never been a beast this good to come out of this breeding program! The story of Doc Ryan began eight generations ago with Tiffany of BR. Born in 1982, with the beauty of a fine gem, she became the foundation matron of all Ruby of Tiffanys in the Angus breed. Seven Ruby of Tiffanys later, an amazing two-year-old, T/D Ruby of Tiffany 824, produced THE BULL of a generation.” ~ Bill Rishel, Master Angus Breeder

He is proving to be an amazing sire with an average progeny weaning ratio of 102; a yearling ratio of 102; an IMF ratio of 103; and a RE ratio of 102. Not only is Doc Ryan an outlier for phenotype and structure, but he also has elite EPDs. He ranks in the top 3% of Current sires for CW and $F; in the top 4% for WW and $B, and in the top 5% for YW and $C. Don’t overlook the fact he has great Marb and RE figures as well, with rankings in the top 10% and 20%.

Gen One
Gen Four
Tiffany BR
B/R Ruby of Tiffany 3156
The year was 1982, and a stunning heifer calf was born February 4th that struck us as being quite special in the way of a quality gemstone. So, we named her Tiffany BR. She became the foundation matron of the B/R Ruby of Tiffanys, one of the most impactful cow families of the Angus breed. It was about this time that I realized, using the “hottest” bull of the breed was not a breeding program, and having a goal of producing the “next great one” with no plan was a long-shot at best.
This is a good time to mention that when we worked at “reducing the scrap pile,” bulls like “New Frontier” showed up at the top of their calf crops just like cream separating from the milk. They became more of the norm for us. B/R Ruby of Tiffany 3156 still posts a heifer pregnancy EPD of +13.1 (top 35%) and a marbling EPD of +.97 (top 15%).
Gen Two
Gen Five
B/R Ruby of Tiffany
B/R Ruby of Tiffany 8496
I was trained to believe in the value of great females in a pedigree, and it occurred to me that our goal should be to see “how small we could make the scrap pile” in each year’s calf crop. So, with that in mind, we mated Tiffany BR to AAR New Trend. The result was B/R Ruby of Tiffany, a female that, to this day, would represent the phenotype that I would want every cow in my herd to have. It was about this time that we embarked on identifying carcass merit in our program. The value of that effort would not be fully appreciated by the industry for another 10-15 years. We were committed to seeking carcass genetics without compromising fertility, structural correctness, and functional traits.
The next female in line is a daughter of B/R 65R Genesis, B/R Ruby of Tiffany 8496, the great-grandmother of Doc Ryan. She posts a marbling EPD of +1.38 (top 3%).
Gen Six
B/R Ruby of Tiffany 688
That brings us to the grandmother of Doc Ryan, B/R Ruby of Tiffany 688, and she posts a heifer pregnancy EPD of +17.3 (top 5%) and a marbling EPD of +1.37 (top 3%).
Gen Three
Gen Seven
B/R Ruby of Tiffany 4117
T/D Ruby of Tiffany 824
The third cow in Doc Ryan’s lineage was B/R Ruby of Tiffany 4117, born in 1994. She still posts a heifer pregnancy EPD of +13 (top 35%) and a marbling EPD of +.71 (top 35%). Longevity matters, and this female was mated at eight years of age to B/R New Frontier 095, the top-selling bull in the 2001 Rishel Angus sale, producing B/R Ruby of Tiffany 3156.
The female that is the seventh generation of this story is T/D Ruby of Tiffany 824, who, as a two-year-old female, produced the eighth generation Doc Ryan, the highest-selling and one of the most remarkable individuals in the storied history of the Rishel program. She records a heifer pregnancy EPD of +14.4 (top 25%) and a marbling EPD of +1.35 (top 3%).

His Abigail dam traces to generations of maternal excellence, stacking fertility, productivity, and dependable cow power behind a calving-ease prospect with structural credibility.

Doctor Black 2116 blends some of the most dominant cow families from Schaff Angus Valley with the predictable growth and carcass merit of Doc Ryan. His prolific Harvestor dam remains an active donor in our program and records 5WW@109, proving her ability to transmit real-world performance. Doctor Black posts progeny ratios of 21IMF@105, confirming that Doc Ryan’s influence consistently delivers cattle that grade without sacrificing performance. He ranks in the top 10% of current sires for WW, SC, CW, and Marb, offering a balanced package of growth, fertility, and carcass quality backed by proven maternal strength.
Lot 7 is one of those bulls you won’t find if all you can read is paper. He stems from the very first “890 x Pursuit” flush we ever made with the sole intent of building superior cows. His dam records 8WW@105 and is one of those “890” daughters who have had a long and productive career at Herbster Angus Farms. She’s still in the herd, and due to calve this spring in her 11th year. This is a true cow-maker pedigree designed for longevity and maternal consistency. The youngest bull in the sale, he offers lasting herd impact for cattlemen who value substance beyond the spreadsheet.

POSS Maverick – Our #1 marbling herd bull and sire of Lots 9-10. Maverick is also the maternal grandsire of Lots 14 and 18.
Poss Maverick Birth Date: 02/05/17
When we heard of the opportunity to purchase Maverick and bring him back to Nebraska from Belvin Angus in Canada, we couldn’t say, “YES!” fast enough! It’s always nice to buy a proven, mature bull who adds so many desirable traits to your herd! His unbelievable phenotype and his breed leading EPDs are just what our cow herd and many of our customers’ herds need. He ranks in the top 4% of Current Sires for Marb and the top 5% for $G. Maverick is a staple of the industry for siring performance within his elite phenotype, while also continuing to be one of the top marbling sires of the Angus breed. Danny Poss, the breeder of Maverick, said, “The level of consistency with Maverick that we have appreciated for the last couple of years is still being carried on today. We are now beginning to see it within his daughters. At Poss Angus, we are excited to see the excellent maternal influence Maverick will have on the breed with the neat udders and easy fleshing his daughters possess.” In addition to his marbling and performance excellence, Maverick is also a Pathfinder® Sire. He currently has 29 daughters that have qualified as Pathfinder® Dams. We are calving out our first Maverick daughters now and they are exceptional mothers with great udders. He is an amazing brood cow influencing sire! Maverick is being collected at the same 40 million count as all other Herbster Angus Farms semen at North American Breeders. Please call and order today. Semen is readily available.

Lot 9 posted the second-heaviest actual weaning weight of the 2025 spring calf crop at 932 pounds and combines that performance with strong marbling EPDs. We are reservng 1/2 semen revenue sharing interest in Lot 9.
Lot 10 pushes carcass value even further, recording the highest Marb EPD and the highest $G EPD in the sale.
The 1682 x 8809 cross has already proven itself at the highest level. VAR Power Play, a 1682 x 8809 son, became the highest-selling son of 8809 at $730,000. Maverick is a direct son of 1682, bringing that same genetic formula back to the legendary 8809 cow family. Ed Raithel, manager of Herbster Angus Farms, values this cross for its balance of growth, carcass merit, and maternal strength. The brass tacks is simple — the mating works. Both brothers are soft-made, big-scrotaled, structurally correct, and longevity-focused. Backed by “the mother of herd bulls,” Sandpoint Blackbird 8809, they offer performance, carcass merit, and replacement-making strength.

America is our $1.887-million valuation, all-time top-selling, world-record son of our herd sire, President. He literally shattered every benchmark including the all-time record for the American Angus Association for 205-day weight at 1107 pounds. He is a “one-of-a-kind” breeding piece, resulting from the last embryo produced out of the legendary SAV Madame Pride 0075, who has produced over $5.4 million in progeny sales to date. As great as his name, he presents himself with true herd bull style—long-bodied, thick, square-hipped, deep, and massive with a sound structure, large scrotal, and a gentle disposition. His calves are superior in their foot and leg structure and are jet black. They have exceeded every expectation we had for them. In our herd, his 28 daughters in production are perfect-uddered and have an extreme amount of mothering ability. In our eyes, they are the ultimate Angus replacements.

Like his biblical namesake, Abel represents the best of the flock. He had a ratio of 108 at weaning and posted an actual weaning weight of 900 pounds. He is a true scale crusher built for producers who sell calves by the pound. His growth, stretch, and herd bull presence typify what made America famous. Your cows—and your sale barn manager—will be in awe of what this bull can produce. His daughters will keep you in business. Extended in his build with exceptional feet, Abel is a maternal brother to our herd sire, VAR Enterprise.
Herbster America 3225 is an age-advantaged bull that has already proven himself in real-world service as a walking herd sire in our program. He brings practical breeding experience. He is quiet, manageable, and easy to be around. If you value disposition, maturity, and a bull that understands his job, Lot 11 is ready to go to work immediately.

Power comes at you from every angle—through his build, his pedigree, and his data. He may be the longest-sided bull in the sale, and every seasoned producer knows length translates to pounds. Elite genomic growth markers reinforce his forward momentum. A commercial producer’s kind, he is built to sire steers who top the sale at weaning and daughters retained that raise heavyweight calves.

Craftsman was selected for calving ease, impeccable build, and his valuable outcross pedigree. Sourced from our good friends at Hoffman Ranch and Cody and Lindsey Sankey, he is long- bodied, complete, and fundamentally correct. In his first calf crop, he posted a 99 birth weight ratio and a 102 weaning ratio, confirming balanced transmission. His calves are attractive, extended through their front third, and move with confidence. We continue to use 3003 as a walking bull at Herbster Angus Farms. His feet are flawless, and his athletic build begins with an ideal head-to-shoulder junction that sets him and his progeny apart.
