RB Lady Standard 305-890 *16128291 4/13/2008 – 6/6/2025
Today, we honor the life and legacy of one of the greatest matriarchs our herd has ever known—RB Lady Standard 305- 890, affectionately known as “Mrs. Riley.” Phenotypically exceptional, she was smooth, long-sided, massive-ribbed, and as complete as they come. As thick as an Angus cow could be without ever sacrificing maternal strength, she embodied the perfect balance of power and grace. Mrs. Riley leaves behind a staggering legacy: over $3.2 million in progeny sales and 30 direct sons sold through our sale, averaging $13,550. She is the dam of Gaffney Game Changer, our $275,000 herd sire, and has 13 productive daughters working in our herd, posting an average weaning ratio of 102. At 17, she was still producing embryos, and her influence will continue through embryos already in recips from our junior herd sires, Almighty and Authority. She was more than just a cow who contributed genetics to Herbster Angus Farms. 890 was a favorite in the pasture and among all who knew her. Always the first to greet you, she was known to nudge open a slider door for a bite or two of grain and never turned down a good scratch. Gentle, calm, and striking in her presence, 890 was an ideal Angus cow. Her presence shaped our program, and her absence will be deeply felt. We’re happy knowing her legacy will continue to guide this herd, and we hope that wherever she is now, the grass is lush, and the sun is warm on her face. Rest easy, Mrs. Riley. You were one of the greats.
