highlights: the Meenakshi Amman Temple, known as southern India’s Taj Mahal. Visit the temple at dusk by tuk tuk. Day 9: Kumily This morning, re-visit the temple in daylight, plus tour the nearby Nayak Palace, then drive west to Kumily. Day 10: Periyar Wildlife Reserve Rise early to enter the local wildlife sanctuary for a guided nature walk. The reserve has a small population of rarely seen tigers, however, the birdlife is absolutely excellent. The rest of the day is at leisure until an afternoon visit to one of the numerous local spice plantations. Day 11: Kerala Houseboat Overnight This morning, travel towards the Kerala coast to discover the enchanting Keralan backwaters. Experience an overnight stay on a Kerala Houseboat. It’s a wonderful way to travel; passing paddy fields, coconut palms, and colourful local houses. Day 12: Kumarakom Rise early and enjoy breakfast, then depart the houseboat and transfer to Kumarakom. The rest of the day is at leisure. Early evening, enjoy a sunset boat cruise on Lake Vembanad. Day 13: Kumarakom Today is at leisure. Day 14: Cochin This morning, make the short journey to Cochin for your last night.
