FTTH Conference 2024 The FTTH Show took place in March in Berlin. Vincent Garnier, Director General, FTTH Council Europe sums up the event for Broadband Journal
for the annual FTTH/B Market Panorama and market reports by the FTTH Council Europe. On the FTTH exhibition side, over 100 leading FTTH vendors showcased the most advanced technologies shaping the future of our industry, plus over twenty partners representing industry associations’ from across the fibre ecosystem. The FTTH Conference 2024 also saw the presentation of the winners of the annual FTTH Awards:
The FTTH Conference 2024 in Berlin has been the most successful edition yet! With over 3,300 registered delegates from 1,500 companies and 80 different countries, 24% of attendees were ‘C’ level, 42% were Director level or above and 38% of the audience came from telecom operators, CSPs, utilities, municipalities, contractors, local government, finance/investment companies, government or regulatory bodies. The FTTH Conference continues to be the largest European focused forum for fibre. Following a record-breaking first day, which saw over 2,000 delegates attending the 24 expert workshops organised by Committees, Members and Partners of the FTTH Council Europe on 19th March, days two and three were filled with business strategic discussions thanks to the five high-level keynotes and 16 panels bringing the agenda on the 20th and 21st to life. More than 180 speakers alternated on stage over the three days, including Michael Theurer, Parliamentary Secretary of State of the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, Roberto Viola, Director General of the European Commission’s DG CONNECT, and Teresa Czerwińska , Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, for a series of compelling conversations around latest policy and regulation developments, the future of our industry, ESG and sustainability, investment strategies and new business models, technology trends, as well as the usual zoom-ins on strategic markets such as the UK and Baltics, and the presentation of the updated figures
n IOWRT SDK 7.3 by Genexis is the winner for the Active Infrastructure - Home Network Category n Network Manager Telecom by IQGeo is the winner for the Planning, Workflow, Mapping/GIS, AI Software Category n View 8X - AI-Driven, IoT- Connected, GPS-Enabled Fusion Splicer by Inno Instrument is the winner for the Installation Equipment, Tools, Test & Measurement Instruments Category The 2024 Conference’s timing coincided with the 20th anniversary of the FTTH Council Europe, celebrated during the plenary session by bringing on stage past Presidents and Director Generals who have helped shape the evolution of the association over the last two decades. Finally, the event saw the launch of our next edition of the FTTH Conference, happening at RAI Amsterdam on 25-27 March 2025, and our new regional event, the FTTH Congress Balkans, scheduled for 29-30 October 2024 in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

This year, in addition to the traditional FTTH Awards, saw the launch of brand- new FTTH Innovation Awards, which were presented for the first time at the FTTH Conference 2024 in Berlin. There were five categories of awards: n BendBright 180µm optical fibre by Prysmian Group is the winner for the Passive Infrastructure Category n Genexis TrueTalk (PON autosensing software) by Genexis is the winner for the Active Infrastructure - Central Network Category
