third attempt, and said, “Suffer little chil- ren.” With a last grand effort, she said, not exactly the verse, but these _words: “Jesus wants us all to come to Him; and don’t anybody try to stop us.” —The Methodist. The Memory Four ljf week—“All have -sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). 2nd week —“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). 3rd week —Believing this,—“Now are we the sons of God; and it doth not yet ap pear what we shall he: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him” (1 John 3 :2). 4th week —So then, let us give thanks to the Father,—“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Col. 1:13). K. Y. B. C. Questionnaire Do you know— 1. Three texts that prove that God al ways was? 2. An Old Testament and a New Test ament story of an ass? 3. Two Psalms almost exactly alike? 4. A well-known cousin of Jesus? 5. The1story of the king and his pen knife? ■—o— : ’, Will you pray this month for Jewish children and parents who are Christians? Many suffer much “for Christ’s sake.” This M onth’s Fable A Silver Dollar to a Penny once said, “What a poor little thing you are. . Just look at me; see how big I am. You won’t go very far.” . “Oh, yes,” said the Penny, “you’re very, very big, But I’m better than you, I know. , I go to church and Sunday-school, Where you very seldom go. It’s not how little or big you are. What matters is' what you do.” And what the Penny to the Dollar ■ said, Of folks is just as true. The Moral: Worth lies in service, not in size. Send in your moral to this fable, and the best in fewest words will appear, with your name, in next month’s paper. Look for the monthly fable. Your moral may give the world an undying maxim. Greetings come to us from Moody In stitute K. Y. B. C. Mr. Loveless writes that fifty awards have been given to those making the most words from a Scripture sentence. Some found over 1,200. Shall we try it?

T he S tory of W hat H e H ad to D o The story begins, as was said, before time was, and it begins in the Kingdom of Marvelous Light, which, like the Great King, has no beginning and will never end. It begins before earth or sky or sea were made. When the Great King wanted them, He said, “Be.” And they were ) He made the sun and the moon and the stars—myriads of stars, as you may see, when you look at the sky tonight. And the sun and the moon and the stars are a part of the light of the Kingdom of Mar velous Light.

1HIS it the Story of the Great King who lived in the King dom of Marvelous Light. It 1 ■ is the oldest as well as the most wonderful story that ever was told. So old is it that it began _ before time was, and it was told by^the Great King Himself to the men who wrote it. So wonderful is it that it would not be possible to believe it, did not the Great King Himself prove to us that it is true. . , , . This Great King is like no other king that ever lived. In the first place, He is the first King that ever lived. And He

never began to be. He always was! And, more than that, He will nev- e r cease to be. ■Look at a circle. Can you tell where ;it begins or ends? “No,” you will say.

The Great King made also throngs of splendid beings with wonderful shining wings. One, most splendid and wise and powerful, was the Archangel Lucifer, whose name means “shining one.” Him the Great King made to be prince over the others, and it seems, over the universe, under the direction, of its Creator. Prince Lucifer’s place was near the throne o.f the Great King, and great honor and magni ficence were his. His covering—his pal ace, his clothing—was .of gold and most precious jewels, “Shining One” .indeed he was. In all thé Kingdom of Marvelous Light, only the Great King Himself was greater, or wiser or more splendid. Prince Lucifer knew this, and, in some strange way, pride entered his heart, and envy and hatred of the Great King took hold of him. (To be continued.) Bible Readings W ith th e Story Gen. 1 :1 ; Isa. 45:18. Gen. 1 :2. This verse may be read, “The earth became without form,” etc. The explanation of this condition is found in Isa- 14:12-16 which tells of Satan’s pride and willfulness. A Verse for L ittle Children A little girl had learned the verse, “Suf fer the little children to come unto me,” to repeat at a meeting. She stood on the platform and began. “Suffer”—it was her first attempt at speaking in public. She was frightened, and stopped for a moment. Then she began again. “Suffer little”—again her fear overcame her. But being a determined little one, she made a

And that is how it is with the Great King. Like no other king, He, though one King, is three Persons, and each Person has a separate name. The name that means all His Persons together is Elohim. This is one of the many things that must be believed without being understood, but perhaps the following will help. There are some beloved little persons who call me Grandmother. Other dear older ones call me Auntie. And some dearest of all —yes, I will say it because you will see it must be true—some dearest of all call me Mother ; and yet I am one and the same persom And look at it this way: A drop of water may become steam, or ice, or snow—three quite different things, but all from water, and to water they will return—three things that are yet one and the same thing, Elohim, then, is the altogether name of the Great King, and His separate names are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. And now you know that the Great King is. God, and the Kingdom of Marvelous Light is heaven. A wonderful place "it is, above the clouds, even above the stars. There the throne of the Great King is, set in a glory greater than the glory of the sea when it sparkles like sapphires and emeralds. The throne itself, with thè Great King seated upon it, the Book of the Great King describes as having indeed the appearance of sapphires and of amber that glows like fire. You may not see how the Great King can be three Persons, but you will believe that He is because so it is written in the Book of the Great King. You will see, too, that He needed to be, in order to do what He had to do.
