Project Approach

Design Approach & Methodology

We have excelled at providing architectural services for hundreds of educational projects over the past 25 years. We pride ourselves on the number of Oklahoma-based clients to whom we’ve successfully delivered well-designed buildings, while working collaboratively with these clients. Our firm is built on relationships, some of which go back decades. Our philosophy is to identify and remove as many obstacles as we can so our clients can open their doors as quickly and economically as possible. The relationship between client and firm is one of the most important ingredients to every successful project. It is through communications, which are timely, responsive, honest, and uncompromising, that a long-term relationship may be established. The Renaissance Architecture team is committed to working relentlessly to support the individual needs of the client.

Clarity of Purpose & Communication

Our goal will be to help you deliver this project successfully, meeting the project objectives, as economically as possible and according to the defined schedule. It’s a simple concept – but people make the difference in communication. We are big believers in frequent communication to avoid surprises and to reinforce accountability to and for all stakeholders. Whether it pertains to quality, schedules, consultants, jurisdictions, or contractors, proactive and consistent communication at all levels internally within our team and externally with your team is our charge. We work hard to practice a sundown rule – meaning we make every effort to respond to all communication before the close of each day, even if the resolution is pending. To help assure communication and engagement of the owner and stakeholders to define the project objectives prior to project start and with the design team we have a dedicated community liaison, Socrates Lazradis, AIA, NCARB, TEE.

Organization & Coordination We believe planning is fundamental to success. Success, however, depends on the people put in place and their technical skill, ability, and willingness to succeed in the roles of the program. We understand that this kind of work requires a world- class dedicated team to navigate the complexities of varying issues while managing schedules and expectations.

19

Defined Schedule Our approach to scheduling is simple – be as efficient as possible to do the work right the first time. We take every opportunity to shorten the time it takes from project authorization to permit approval, without compromising quality or service. Our teams regularly meet to discuss deadlines and workload, and we pull in additional resources when needed to meet our commitments. Establishing and communicating a defined schedule at the outset is important and holding everyone on the team accountable to that schedule is imperative.

Cost Sensitivity & Time Control As a professional services firm, we are spending your money. We absolutely understand what that means to your business in terms of real dollars and time. One of our underlying principles is to be good stewards of your money, and we are mindful of that with respect to our design and our process. Cost of special construction materials influence the bottom line. We will work the client, contractors, and consultants to perform constructability reviews of documents. We also assess approach to assure to eliminate time wasters and unnecessary expenses.

Quality We recognize the importance placed on quality. The accuracy and completeness of our design and construction documents must be at a level that minimizes confusion and mistakes in the field. The quality of our design services must be at a level that maximizes our client’s confidence and trust that we are looking out for their best interests. We understand that quality takes time and errors cost money. With these types of projects, information gathering is crucial, but even more important is the synthesis of that information to achieve the desired outcomes. To do this we will undergo a thorough quality control review with multiple team members and our consultants at phases throughout project development. Everyone on the design team is also tasked with checking their own work. Prior to completion, construction documents are thoroughly reviewed by a senior member our team who is charged with ensuring details are coordinated, code requirements have been integrated, and client expectations are met.
