HD Sails Scottish Travellers series update Charlie Bracknell
The HD Sails Scottish series is now more than halfway through but currently only one sailor has competed in more than two events due to sailors finding several events clashed with other commitments. This all Means we have only Ross Watson who has done three events qualifying so therefore he currently leads the series. Ian Baillie has won both the events he has attended in fine form with five bullets and a second showing that time spent in the boat is definitely paying off. Stuart Gibson proved the worthy winner at a challenging Scottish Championships at Chanonry with local Sailor Ben Yeats showing good speed to take second in his first Solo event, Ross Watson taking a solid third and Jon Bailey also from the home club in 4 th . Unfortunately, the weekend also saw damage to masts and sails due to the strong winds which came through on Sunday afternoon and saw PRO Marcus Wheel make the wise decision to can the last race of the day. Prestwick saw a reduced entry due to strong wind forecast meaning an elite group took to the water with Ian Baillie demonstrating his skills winning all three races Ross Watson showing good for in 2 nd and Kevan Gibb 3 rd . With a reported 7 Scottish Entries for the Nationals in Torbay in a few weeks’ time the fleet will be back racing in the middle of August at Loch Venacher a wonderful friendly club hidden away in the Trossachs followed by Loch Tummel in early September. The Final event will be at Dalgety Bay . It is still all to play for with these event will allow those still to do so to qualify for the series overall.
