Solo Nation’s Cup 2024 Brightlingsea
A picture can say a thousand words and you might guess, from the bleak expressions on Patrick and steve’s faces that something is wrong. I was behind the camera (phone) and seething after destroying my camera and stabiliser during the first race of the championship. We had been moored just to windward of mark 1 as the fleet closed in and I took up position at the stern with Patrick Burns, our cameras trained on the unfolding action. With no warning our rib lurched forward, the stainless frame and our razor sharp reactions the only things stopping us from going over the back into the muddy brown water Brightlingsea is known for. The Nikon and stabiliser were destroyed and I had to rely on my phone for the rest of the regatta. The atmosphere on the rib is best described as frosty though our driver seemed oblivious to it all!
