Wednesday Afternoon continued: Topic: Networking/systems/Service provider 15:20 – 15:35 Corning Optimized fiber connections and routing for Co- Packaged Optics (CPO) Speaker: Benoit Fleury, Corning; Anand Ramaswamy, Broadcom An enabler of co-packaged optics (CPO) is establishing low-loss and reliable fiber connections to the optical engines (or PICs). Furthermore, the handling and routing of the fibers between the faceplate and the PICs need to be done in a way that is manufacturable while minimizing undue stress that may cause downstream failures. This can be more challenging for parallel optics architectures that require four times more signal fiber density, especially in a high-volume production environment. This presentation will describe the types of fibers and densities needed for different CPO implementations and provide insights to ease assembly and minimize faults.
15:40- 15:55 Juniper Networks The need for speed: IP-optical integration with 800ZR/ZR+ Speaker: Dirk van den Borne, Juniper Networks We will review industry progress on coherent pluggable DWDM optics for dense routing platforms and will provide a deep-dive on 800ZR/ZR+ optics for the next generation of IP-optical integration. We will detail industry standardization across 800ZR, OpenZR+ and OpenROADM agreements, and the deployment scenarios these standards enable. Furthermore, we review the impact of 800G ZR/ZR+ QSFP-DD optics on system design and power consumption, and how this class of optics is influencing dense routing platform design. Finally, we discuss initial 800ZR/ZR+ field trials and deployments and will explore what we can expect with ZR/ZR+ optics into the 1.6T generation.
