Blew House – Handbook for Boys August 2024

Additional Provision for Senior Boarders

Religious Provision for Boarders

The College is a diverse community both in boarding and throughout the school.

Church of England Services run in the chapel most Sundays and the College Chaplain publishes a termly “Chaplaincy Matters” newsletter which is posted in the house.

At the beginning and close of each year we hold a multi- faith Boarders’ Service. This followed by a barbeque and is a great way to bring together all the members of the boarding community.

A Catholic service runs in the College, timings vary so please check with your Housemaster. There are also Catholic Churches within the neighbourhoods.

Juma Prayers take place on Friday lunchtime in the PE Centre.

Halal Food is available at every meal in the Christison Hall

During the time of Ramadan provision is made for boarders to have food available before sunrise and after sunset and special consideration is given during games lessons.

If you have any other specific requirements please do not hesitate to speak to your Housemaster.

Cultural Needs (including food)

Opportunities are given to boys to talk about their home life and cultural background. Boys are encouraged to mix with other boys from a variety of cultural background and to learn about them. There are a variety of themed evenings to boarders ’ suppers including the celebration of Chinese New Year and a large Christmas dinner.

Specific dietary needs will be catered for within reason. This includes Halal meat as stated above.

In addition, a variety of healthy food is available in the houses at all times.
