Searching and Confiscation
In the unlikely event that your Housemaster deems it necessary to search your study room he has been given permission to do so by The Master of the College. Any search will take place in the presence of another member of staff and we may, or may not, gain your consent and ask you to be present.
This is only likely to happen if we believe you have Alcohol, Drugs or Illegal items in your room or any item which may harm you or other members of our community.
A full copy of the College Searching and Confiscation of Pupil Property Policy can be found on the College website.
Alcohol in the Boarding House
Your parents have already responded to a letter we sent to them before you arrived at the College. This letter requests their consent for you to drink alcohol.
Alcohol policy for College functions where boys are present
No boy will be served alcohol where there is a pay bar, nor must alcoholic drink be purchased for any boy. This ensures the College does not breach the licensing law.
No boy will be allowed to have any alcohol at any function unless he is a member of the Upper School.
When members of the Upper School are invited to a College function where alcohol will be offered to boys the organiser of such an event must, prior to the event, send a letter to the parents/guardians of any boy who will attend the event.
No boarder may bring alcohol into the boarding house, or on to the College grounds, however it has been acquired.
Boys should not purchase alcohol and bring it into the boarding house.
It is the responsibility of the organiser of an event where alcohol is offered to boys to ensure that boys only drink ‘limited amounts under supervision’.
It is your responsibility to always drink sensibly and within your own limits .
At events in the boarding house where alcohol is available it should not under any circumstances be taken into study rooms.
Boys should never be put under pressure to drink alcohol against their will and boys and staff should be encouraged to speak to the Housemaster if you are in any way concerned about a boy in the House.
