Blew House – Handbook for Boys August 2024

Homestays The College may be able to help you arrange a homestay during the holiday periods. However, we cannot guarantee this will always be possible and require notice of at least half a term to make the necessary arrangements. School Trips during School Holidays If you intend to take part in a school trip during the holiday period, you must inform your Housemaster and your parents. Whilst every attempt will be made to be accommodating, you should not expect to be able to stay in the Boarding House overnight at the beginning or end of a trip. We may be able to help you arrange a homestay in the local area. Please try to give as much notice as possible in this instance. You must consult with your Housemaster before committing to the trip in order to ensure that necessary provision can be made for you. Returning to the Boarding House Unless you have made other arrangements with the Housemaster, it is expected that you will return to the House the day before term begins. When travelling back through UK Immigration Control please ensure you bring your UK Visas and Immigration Letter of Consent, signed by your parents. Keys You must hand in your door keys before you go on holiday at the end of the summer term . Please give these to your Housemaster or Mrs Fairhall.

UK Visa and Immigration Information

What is a BRP card? A BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) card is your visa and is proof of your right to be in the UK as a student. They are only issued to those studying in the UK for more than 6 months. If you travel outside the UK you will need to carry this with you with your passport. If you lose it when you are overseas you will need to apply for another card before you can return to the UK so it is vital to keep it safe when you are travelling. How will I receive my BRP card? The College will send instructions on how to apply for your visa/BRP so that the BRP is sent to the College and can be given to the student after his arrival at the start of the Michaelmas term. It is important to keep any letters or e-mails you receive from the UK authorities when applying for a visa as these are sometimes needed for clarification. What should I do when I receive my BRP card? Check your BRP Card. Check that all your details are correct and inform Ms Arthur (arthura@dulwich.org.uk) if anything is incorrect.
