CONTINUITY OF CARE A Note From Dr. Paul Hanna

When I first joined this practice, I knew right away that it wasn’t just another dental office. There was something unique here — a feeling that everyone, from the administrative team to the clinical team, truly cares about every patient as a whole person. That culture of kindness and excellence is what first drew me in, and it’s why I’m still here today. In healthcare — and particularly with surgery — we can’t promise that every treatment will go exactly as planned or be entirely free of challenges. But we can promise to do everything we can to make your care as pain- free and efficient as possible. We promise that you’ll never be lectured or judged, and most importantly, we promise to be here for the long run. That’s why I’m so honored to share that I’ve joined Dr. Jones and Dr. Copeland as a partner in the practice. I was first drawn to the practice they built because it reflects my values as a dentist, including compassion, precision, and a deep commitment to doing what’s best for each patient. From the technology to the teamwork, every part of this place is focused on helping people feel better — not just clinically, but personally. Being part of this team for the last three years has been very meaningful to me. I’m surrounded by people who share the same purpose: delivering care with integrity, empathy, and excellence. Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to grow into this community, learn from incredible colleagues, and connect with amazing patients. The

more time I’ve spent here, the more I’ve felt like this is exactly where I’m meant to be.

delivering care that’s personal, consistent, and rooted in trust.

Partnering with Dr. Jones and Dr. Copeland is my way of saying that I’m committed. I’m invested. And I plan to be here for many years to come. Choosing to become a partner wasn’t just a career move — it was a commitment to a mission I truly believe in. This practice has been built on a foundation of trust, integrity, and genuine patient care, and I knew I wanted to be part of that for the long term. Being here for the future means I get to build lasting relationships with patients, grow alongside an incredible team, and continue

Being part of this team has never felt like “just a job.” It’s a calling, and I’m truly excited about what’s ahead — for our patients, for our team, and for the future we’re building together. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your story. It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly, and I look forward to caring for you, your family, and your friends for many years to come.

Warmly,

–Dr. Paul Hanna

THE $100K REASON TO GET A PET

New Study Says Pets Are Worth Plenty

Most pet owners already know their furry friends make life better, but according to a new study, the value might be higher than anyone realized. Some researchers say it’s close to $100,000. Researchers in the U.K. aimed to measure how much happiness dogs and cats bring to people’s lives. Using data from more than 700 people, they found that owning a pet can boost life satisfaction as much as getting married or landing a massive raise. In economic terms, it’s the emotional equivalent of earning nearly $93,000 more per year. To determine whether pets actually improve happiness, rather than the opposite — happy people are more likely to have pets — the team factored in things like age, income, personality traits, and family size. They also used a clever workaround: They asked people

whether they look after their neighbor’s house while they’re away. That behavior is linked to pet ownership but not directly to happiness, which helped researchers isolate the impact of pet ownership. It’s not just a fun fact, either. Experts say findings like this could affect everything from housing laws to public health programs. If pets fight loneliness and lift people’s moods, it might make sense to rethink rules that prevent pet ownership in some apartments and assisted living facilities. While the researchers focused only on cats and dogs, the message came through clearly. Pets matter, maybe even more than we thought. And if you already live with one and know how they benefit your well- being, the science now backs you up. That wagging tail or soft purr might be worth more than you ever guessed.

When your head hits the pillow, are you counting sheep but not catching any z’s? It’s time to hit snooze on nights of tossing and turning and wake up refreshed with a better sleep routine! Getting the proper amount of rest every night is crucial to living a healthy life and can even help prevent mental health issues like depression and anxiety. A sweet slumber starts with the proper routine. Here’s the dreamy plan to wake up feeling your best. BEDTIME BOUNDARIES Consistency and bedtime boundaries can help your body and mind get into a regular rhythm to reach REM sleep. Try to go to bed around the same time every night to train yourself to get sleepy regularly. It doesn’t matter what time you choose as long as you stick as close to your sleep schedule as possible. You should also select a time before bed when you consistently turn off your phone, computer, and other devices. The blue light from electronics makes your mind think it’s daytime and can distract you from dreaming. RELAX, REWIND, REST You can use many tools to help relax and unwind from the day and prevent intrusive thoughts and tension from keeping you up at night. in a sleepy state of mind. Journaling or writing a to-do list before it’s time to nod off can

remove lingering stresses or racing thoughts. Try meditation or yoga to ease your muscles, focus your mind, and eliminate anxious feelings. DINE RIGHT, SLEEP TIGHT Though a late-night snack or a delayed dinner might seem harmless, it can make drifting off difficult. Your digestive system takes time and energy to break down food, which can keep you awake if you eat too late. Eat light, healthy suppers so your stomach can take a snooze with you, and avoid eating anything several hours before you plan to hit the hay.

WHALES, WINE, AND WHIMSY Why Nantucket Should Be Your Next Getaway

When many Americans think of vacation destinations, they envision beautiful state parks, sunny beaches in Florida or California, and the mountains of Appalachia and the Rockies. However, many states across the country offer exciting events and beautiful scenery. If Massachusetts isn’t already on your radar, consider giving it a closer look the next time you plan a vacation. Cape Cod has beautiful beaches and a rich history that many don’t know about, and something exciting is always happening in Boston. But if you want to experience the true essence of Massachusetts, take a trip to Nantucket. Nantucket is a small island, only 14 miles long and about 3.5 miles wide. Its history with European settlers goes back over 500 years. First sighted by an Englishman named Bartholomew Gosnold in 1602, the island was settled by colonists 50 years later in 1659. Not long after, they spotted whales offshore, which put Nantucket on the map. Whaling became the ultimate trade for people living in the area, and the island even became the world’s whaling capital until the 1850s. You can still view whales from the island today, and if you want to get the full story, check out the Nantucket Whaling Museum.
