Let it be our hope and prayer that from this place shall radiate streams of influence which will be a great blessing not only to the multitudes around us but also to the darkest places of the earth." The dedicatory prayer was offered by Dr. R. A. Torrey, the Dean of the School. The audience sang the old hymn: "My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ, the solid rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand." Rev. J. H. Sammis pronounced the benediction. The Board of Directors, Faculty, Heads of Departments, students and friends óf the Institute gathered on Fri- day, June 22, at 1 o'clock for the brief and simple" ceremony which celebrated the ground breaking for the new build- ing. Following the singing of appropriate hymns, Superintendent Horton made a brief address, calling attention to the great work providentially assigned to the Institute and the purpose of ; the management to make the proposed building a rallying center for the mag- nifying of the Word of God and the ex- altation of Jesus Christ, and a radiating center for the spread of the Gospel to the whole world. Mr. Lyman Stewart, the President of the Institute, turned a shovelful of dirt and said: "In the name of the Bible Institute, I now take possession of this ground for the Lord's use by the act of turning this spadeful of earth.
