Stadler To Construct Mechanical Sorting Plant

Stadler, a recycling equipment manufacturer based in Ger- many, has signed an agreement with Orizon Valorização de Resíduos to build a large mechanical sorting plant in Brazil. The plant is expected to process 500,000 metric tons of solid waste per year. In 2020, the plant received 1.5 million metric tons of mate- rial, equivalent to the waste generated by 3.7 million people. Stadler reports that it has designed and implemented the entire project with two objectives: to modernize and to strengthen Orizon’s plant for the sorting process and select the recoverable products with the highest value to serve domestic and international markets. Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI), a steel producer based in Fort Worth, Indiana, plans to become carbon neutral by 2050 across its electric arc furnace (EAF) steel mill operations.To achieve this target, the company also set interim emissions reduction and renewable energy milestones to be achieved by 2025 and 2030. The company is aiming for a 20 percent scope one and scope two combined greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in- tensity reduction across its EAF steel mills by 2025 and a 50 percent reduction by 2030 compared with a 2018 baseline.
