This blend of modern technology and storytelling makes for timeless, inspired design. Mills Group’s new office in downtown Morgantown is a reflection of its commitment to community and the adaptive re-use of existing buildings. Best Plumber Hughart’s Supply Established by Marvin Hughart in 1911, Hughart’s Supply is the second oldest business still operating in Morgantown, as far as owner Gary Schlobohm has been able to figure out. Schlobohm’s father bought the business in 1974 and passed it to him in 1994. Hughart’s sells air conditioning, heat- ing, and plumbing supplies at retail shops in the Wharf District and Sabraton and provides on-site HVAC and plumbing ser- vice through its Fixzit Man Crew—you’ve seen their service trucks around town. But it’s its plumbing service in particular that BOM voters recognized in this first year of BOM’s Best Plumber category. “We install water heaters, garbage disposals, and faucets, we fix leaky drain lines and toilets that are flushing slow,” Schlobohm says. “I’m blessed with a good, conscionable crew that shows up for work every day. We take a lot of pride in our work, and we do our darnedest to keep the water flowing.” 120 Clay Street, 304.296.3121; 1499 Deckers Creek Boulevard, 304.296.3133; hugharts.com, @hughartssupplyinc

Best Caterer

Madeleine Marie’s Catering

Catered events were fewer in 2020, but Morgantown’s long affection for executive chef Tommy Thompson and his wife, Tasia—we still miss their downtown restaurants Mad- eleine’s and Golden Finch—voted their Madeleine Marie’s Catering BOM Best Caterer for a second year in a row. Clients who did hold catered events in 2020 typically cut down the number of guests, held their events outside, and chose to give guests individual packaged meals, Tasia Thompson says. Madeleine Marie’s worked with client preferences, providing catered meals either for pick-up or delivered and set up but not served. And to keep the lights on in their Greenmont kitchen and restaurant, they focused on carryout, with themed weeks like seafood, barbecue, and Polish to keep things interesting. Kitchen-weary customers have appreciated the variety. 260 Green Street, 304.685.0516, madeleinemaries.com, @madeleinemariescateringcarryout
