stimulating environment that encouraged interdisciplinary analysis. In addition to fostering discussion and student- driven inquiry, these seminars may be applied toward general education requirements. In May 2025, the seminar HONR 250 — Honors Seminar II focused on special topics in economics, offering an engaging exploration of key economic concepts. The course, taught by senior faculty, fulfills the lower-level Social Science requirement and invites students to examine real-world issues through an applied and analytical lens. Dr. Timothy Smith was recently named the inaugural director of the Worldwide Campus Honors Program. He will lead the program’s development while continuing to serve as Chair of the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology.
The College of Arts & Sciences is proud to announce the Worldwide Campus Honors Program, officially launching in the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative will offer students the opportunity to participate in enriched academic experiences that emphasize critical thinking, faculty interaction and deeper exploration of course topics. Rooted in intellectual curiosity and academic rigor, the Honors Program builds on existing opportunities already available across the campus. Over the past year, Honors Summer Seminars served as a preview of the program’s academic model. These faculty-led courses offered students a more interactive and in-depth approach to learning, often in smaller seminar-style settings. A past seminar examined the significance of monsters in popular culture, providing an immersive and intellectually
