With a distinguished career spanning over two decades in the banking and finance industry, Duany Ruiz is a seasoned executive known for his leadership in middle market and commercial banking. Currently, he serves as the Senior Director and Middle Market Leader at Synovus, a position he has held since October 2023. In this role, Duany leads strategic initiatives and oversees market growth and client relationships in the South Florida region. Before joining Synovus, Duany had an extensive tenure at Wells Fargo, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in various high-impact roles over 14 years. As a Senior Vice President, he spearheaded business banking initiatives in Southwest Florida, fostering growth and innovation within the sector. His responsibilities included managing client portfolios, driving revenue growth, and ensuring robust financial solutions tailored to client needs. Additionally, he served as a Vice President Business Banking Manager for the Miami-Dade Monroe area, where he successfully managed business banking operations and cultivated significant client relationships. His role as the Senior Vice President / Commercial Banking Leader for Middle Market Banking in the Tampa/St. Petersburg region from September 2019 to October 2023 further underscores his expertise in managing large-scale banking operations and developing strategic business solutions. Duany ’ s career foundation was built at SunTrust Bank, where he held the position of Senior Vice President for nearly 13 years. As the Commercial Banking Team Manager, he played a pivotal role in managing and expanding the bank ’ s commercial banking division, delivering comprehensive banking services to a diverse clientele. Duany holds a degree from Florida International University, where he honed his skills and knowledge that have contributed significantly to his successful career in banking. Throughout his career, Duany Ruiz has been recognized for his commitment to excellence, strategic thinking, and his ability to drive financial success for his clients and organizations. He continues to be a vital leader in the banking industry, known for his dedication to fostering strong client relationships and his innovative approach to financial management.

Before joining the firm, Dan served as City Attorney for various municipalities, including North Miami Beach, Miami Springs, North Bay Village, and Doral. His nearly five years as City Attorney for Doral were marked by handling intergovernmental agreements, public-private partnership contracts, and a wide range of land development projects. Dan's expertise extends to drafting amendments to development plans and zoning codes, and he has significant experience with public meetings, hearings, and records compliance. This background provides him with deep insights into the operations of municipalities across Miami-Dade County. Dan's public service includes two terms on the City Council of Miami Springs, where he was the youngest elected official in the city ’ s history. He actively contributed to the Intergovernmental Relations Legislative Committee of the Florida League of Cities and chaired the Legislative Committee of the Miami-Dade League of Cities. His community involvement includes roles with the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where he serves on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Government Committee. Recognized for his leadership, Dan was named one of the “Top Young Leaders of Miami” by Latino Leaders Magazine and received the “Elected Official of the Year” award from the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He is a Miami Fellow, a member of Leadership Florida ’ s Connect Florida program, and has been honored as a Rising Star by the Daily Business Review, a Top 40 under 40 Lawyer by the South Florida Business Journal, and a Top Legal Up and Comer by South Florida Business and Wealth Magazine. In 2018, he received the Sunshine Lawyer of the Year Award from the Chamber.
