As I sit down to write this year’s le er for the catalog, I can’t help but reflect on the last few years in the ca le business. Words like historic and unprecedented come to mind when describing the environment we find ourselves in today. What we believed were record-low cow numbers last year have con nued to decline again this year. At the same me, a number of outside factors con nue to influence the ca le market and raise ques ons about how long these ght supplies will persist. While herd rebuilding may be beginning in some areas, it is happening slowly. Through it all, the United States con nues to stand as the global leader in high-quality beef produc on, as well as the gene cs that make it possible. Angus gene cs remain the driving force behind mee ng the demand for premium beef around the world. At Cannon Valley Ranch, we take a balanced and disciplined approach to our breeding philosophy. We do not chase single- trait selec on. Instead, our goal is to produce Angus ca le that excel across the board—ca le that deliver excep onal carcass quality in the feedlot while also developing into func onal, low-maintenance cows that thrive in the pasture year a er year.
