The Christian should not fall below men o f the world in what is honorable and manly but should rise above them. 3. The Christian may unbend as well as other men, but he can be pure and reverent and kind at all times and make the gold en rule o f Christ his perpetual law. II. TRUE MANLINESS REQU IRES THAT A MAN BE A CHR ISTIAN III. THE APOSTLE ENJOINS MANLINESS IN THE CHRIS T IAN LIFE 1. W e should be manly Christians, with manly strength and cour age. 2. Since we are made in the image o f God, capable o f knowing, lov ing, and glorifying God, and granted exalted dignity, we ought to avoid all that is low and set our affection on things above. 6.
