to maintain a workout routine when your regular routine is disrupted. Even working out at home — or going for a walk or jog around the neighborhood every day — can be a great way to modify your routine. 3. Meal Prep for a Healthier Life Speaking of routines, our family started meal planning for the first time. We planned our meals for two weeks at a time — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We decided to only shop at the store every two weeks and to buy everything we needed in one trip. This way, we didn’t need to go back and forth, and it saved a lot of time and money. When it came to cooking, my wife handled most of it. She was our chef. I was just her sous-chef. Meal planning is a great way to eat healthier. When you plan in advance, you can craft meals around healthy, fresh ingredients, rather than falling for the trap of unhealthy snacks or ordering in. During lockdown, eating healthy meals meant a lot more Not long ago, we made some renovations to our house, and we had some wood, drywall, and other construction materials left over. I took it upon myself to build some furniture for my son, as I mentioned, but I also built furniture for the grown-ups — a couch, chairs, and a table for our patio. Now, we have more places to sit outside and entertain! It was a lot of hard work, but it was worth it. Lockdown proved to be the perfect time to focus on DIY projects and get things done around the house. Even if you’re not handy, it can be fun to try a new hobby and see what you can build! because we were less active. 4. House DIY Projects Now, my son has a great place to read and learn, and our family has the ideal place to relax at the end of a long day. I hope as you look at these pictures you will find inspiration for your own home DIY projects. I highly encourage it! Good luck and see you soon!
I had a busy lockdown. We were out of the office and spent more time at home, just like many other families. This meant we had to discover the best use of our time. We wanted to stay productive and healthy — and get the most out of our time together as a family. Here are four things I did during lockdown: 1. Family First Being away from the office meant I had more time with my son. He is almost 2 and loves to run around, play new games, and learn new words. I think at this point, he picks up a new word every day. Watching all of this, I decided he needed a place to explore, so I built him a desk, a bench, and a bookcase — all from scratch. When you have young kids, spending time with them is always important, especially as they learn about the world around them. I am thankful I had the time to devote to my son and family. I enjoyed getting to see him so much every day! 2. Decluttering the House We spent time organizing the house and cleaning out every room, one by one. As we went through closets, we pulled out anything we no longer wore or wanted so we could donate it. At the end of our organizing, we got rid of a lot of stuff and had so much extra space! We also went through old documents. Most people tend to keep documents, such as bank statements or bills, for longer than they need to. They can pile up and get in the way. You can take old documents (or paperwork that no longer serves a purpose) and shred them. You never want to throw out old documents before properly shredding them because they can still contain sensitive information.
The whole process of organizing and decluttering took about two weeks. Not only did we get rid of a lot of stuff, but it was also a workout. I used to go to the gym regularly, but I will admit, I have gotten away from this. While we were cleaning, I was carrying a lot of boxes. It is important

Help Your Kids Handle Stressful Situations
WITH THESE SENSORY-RICH ACTIVITIES
You can see it happening, almost in slow motion: Your child goes from playing and laughing to frowning in less than a second. They start to cry, and suddenly, a meltdown is underway. Is this just the way raising young kids is? Does a lack of sleep, change in routine, or intense hunger always have to lead to a meltdown? While it’s human to feel emotions and express them, you can use certain strategies to help your child navigate major emotions and calm down. The key is helping them tap into their central nervous system with activities that engage their senses. Just like adults, younger kids sometimes need support to regulate their emotions, especially in situations that are stressful for them. That’s where activities that engage the five senses can be really beneficial. Sensory activities that utilize the five senses can help your little one connect their body to their immediate surroundings and the larger world around them.
Here are some sensory-rich activities that can help kids feel calmer in stressful times:
•
Make a pile of pillows and jump into it.
•
Put on some fun music and dance.
• Bounce your little one on your lap or an exercise ball.
• Take them for a spin around the house in a box or laundry basket; kids can even race each other.
• Create a slide by propping a mattress or exercise mat against the couch.
These are activities you can use right where you are to help your child find their calm again, even in a meltdown. According to early childhood development expert Alyssa Blask Campbell, sensory input stays in the system for about two hours, meaning even just five minutes of these types of activities can give you and your child hours of calm throughout the day.
A Dental Myth Busted What Really Happens When You Remove a Back Tooth?
1. Overloading: When you are missing a tooth on one side of the mouth, you end up overloading the other side of the mouth. This puts extra strain on the jaw and teeth opposite of the removed tooth. Over a long period of time, you can wear down and damage teeth on the “complete” side. This will require treatment to fix, which may include the removal of more teeth. 2. Drifting: Once a tooth is removed, the adjacent teeth will try to close the gap because our teeth are always in dynamic movement and only stop moving when they meet with another tooth. This will cause a major collapse in our bite, which could be very hard to recover from over the years, and it can end up causing us to lose more teeth. We see older patients who have had several teeth removed because they overloaded their healthy teeth in their youth. It can be traced to the removal of that first tooth because they thought it wasn’t a big deal. In the end, a tooth removal can leave you with more problems than when you started, including a large bill. If you experience tooth decay or damage, it’s important to explore other options in order to save your existing teeth. Removing a tooth should be a last option.
Myth: Removing back teeth is not a big deal.
Fact: It’s complicated. When we see patients, especially younger patients, with a damaged back tooth, they often decide to have the tooth removed rather than repaired or restored because they don’t think removing a back tooth (a premolar or molar) is a big deal. After all, you cannot see these teeth when you smile, and people often value appearance over function. In the short term, removing a back tooth is not a major issue. However, in the long term, you can face serious consequences, including the need to remove more teeth, ongoing pain, and continued costs. Here’s why: When you have a back tooth removed, whether due to infection, damage, or severe overcrowding, you can create new problems.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR FEAR OF GOING TO THE DENTIST Anxiety, the Dentist, and You
Do you or someone you know fear visiting the dentist? If you do, you’re not alone. In fact, it’s one of the most common fears people experience. When we set out to create a dental practice that met the needs of patients who were afraid of going to the dentist, we had to understand the “why” behind the fear. What causes this type of anxiety? Fear of going to the dentist is an acquired fear. It comes from the emotional response people have to past experiences at the dentist. Every person has different past experiences, which lead to different kinds and levels of fear. While some people have a little apprehension about going to the dentist and may skip an appointment here or there, others have a phobia. They will do everything in their power to avoid going to the dentist and are scared to the extreme.
or maybe they received too little Novocain during a procedure, which resulted in an uncomfortable and painful experience.
There’s also a social aspect. Many people fear going to the dentist because they were judged by a past dentist or their team. They may have been lectured about their brushing habits or told they were doing something wrong. They were made to feel like the “bad guy.” It’s also possible a past dentist or hygienist failed to listen to the concerns of their patient or even continued working after the patient indicated they were in pain. There are a lot of people who are really scared of the dentist but really great at masking it so they will not be judged. Special psychological and clinical training is a must for dentists and their teams to be able to uncover these hidden fears and help patients overcome this major obstacle. The First Steps to Building Your Dream Patio
Enjoying your time outside can be hard when you also want indoor comforts. But why settle for just one when you can have the best of both worlds with an outdoor patio? Summer is a great time to make a plan to create or revamp your current patio into your dream patio. As with any home project, however, it can be overwhelming at first to design an entire space. If you’re not sure where to start, then here are some suggestions.
like to include. If you can make these two work together, then you’ll be very satisfied with the results. Dream features can include a beautiful firepit, an elaborate brick design, a Jacuzzi, or a professional grilling station. For example, if you want a cozy spot for your family to enjoy Sunday afternoon barbecues, then you’ll need enough space to set up your ideal outdoor
cooking area as well as a dining area with the right amount of seating. Once you have the space in mind, you can accommodate and plan for changes. NO. 3: CONSIDER HOW TO DECORATE. If your patio isn’t constructed yet (or if you’re reconstructing), then consider using fresh, great- looking patio pavers to complement your house’s exterior and invite you and your guests to step into the outdoors. Try to add interesting textures by using different materials. Slate, limestone, sandstone, and terra cotta paving slabs are very popular choices. Finally, decorate with planters, shade structures, and anything else you think will make your outdoor escape a little more comfortable.
NO. 1: DETERMINE THE PURPOSE. No two households are the same, and likewise, no two patios are used exactly the same way. Maybe you’d like to have a quiet, cozy spot in the mornings to listen to the sounds of nature, enjoy the weather, and take in a good book or podcast. Maybe you’d like to use your patio mainly to relax and breathe in the fresh air as you entertain guests. Or, maybe you need your patio to serve both purposes! NO. 2: PLAN THE SPACE IN ADVANCE. This can be the hardest part for some, but you must keep two specific things in mind when planning your patio: the preferred size and any dream feature you’d
