generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” This particular passage got Sam thinking, “Who is the wisest person I know?” President Cory Aquino came to mind, as he is friends with one of her daughters. “She was not only wise, she was very Godly,” Sam explained. When the people of the Philippines were rebelling in the streets, she could be found in a cathedral, in prayer, with a group of Catholic nuns. When people began asking her to become president, she agreed if it “was God’s will.” She spoke five languages fluently and shared a strength and wisdom clearly guided by God’s hand. Sam also looks to Sir Winston Churchill as an example of God’s wisdom. He is admired because of his sensibility and inspiring speeches, yet his demeanor also reminds Sam of Ecclesiastes 5:2 – to keep your words few. So many people today are quick to be proud and to ignore the wisdom of others. Sam urges us to seek out God’s wisdom, even from people we may not see eye to eye with. All we have to do is ask for it, and it will be given. Be sure to read your next issue of MOMENTS Magazine to learn the third thing that God wants you to know!

Nearly 40 years ago, a talented artist named Sam Butcher created uplifting illustrations that became the spark igniting the Precious Moments Collection as we know it today. Over the decades his humor and wisdom have been such blessings. Those who meet him or hear him speak appreciate his humble nature and insightful words. At the Family Reunion Event this past summer at the Precious Moments Chapel, attendees were treated to a rare opportunity – the chance to attend a live talk from Mr. Sam Butcher. He graciously shared “Four Things God Wants You to Know.” In the last issue of MOMENTS Magazine, we relayed how Sam explained that the Lord is a God of mercy. So what’s the second thing God wants you to know? Sam believes it is that He is a God of wisdom. Sam shared examples of God’s wisdom and how He bestows it upon others. In the book of 1 Kings 5:12, we hear about Solomon, the wisest man in the world. God wanted to bless Solomon, and asked him which blessing he would like. Solomon could have asked for anything, but he didn’t ask for a bigger army, more money, power, popularity, or fame. All he asked for was wisdom. The Lord gave him this wisdom, and so much more. With it came power, riches and fame. All he had to do was ask. Hundreds and hundreds of years later, the book of James 1:5, simply says “If any man lacks wisdom, you should ask God who gives
