2026-27 Pathway Planning Guide

Career Pathways

Career pathways are a defined sequence of related courses that build in complexity and culminate in certifications and distinctions. Completing a series of courses in a pathway allows a student to show persistence to a goal, academic perseverance, and endurance. Students who are engaged in career pathways are more likely to focus on subjects that are relevant to their lifetime hobbies and career interests. Increased interest in courses leads to increased academic success. We are proud to offer at least 44 pathways with 9 in the advanced studies and the classics, 4 in visual and performing arts, and 26 in our premier Career Studies and Ignite Professional Studies programs. These pathways allow students to earn a “completer” cord (academic regalia for commencement ceremonies). The Arkansas Department of Career and Technical Education (DCTE) designates some pathways as H 2 because they correspond with Higher Wage fields and High Demand industries in our Arkansas economy. The ADE DESE, DCTE, State Chamber of Commerce, and related economic groups may change or update this list of H 2 fields regularly. Earning a credential of value (certification) in an H 2 pathway will qualify for a Diploma with Merit in the new Arkansas Success Ready Pathway to a Diploma program.
