OWL NESTING BOX WORKSHOP Owls are nature’s natural rodent removal service but many have trouble finding adequate places to nest. During this workshop, participants will learn to identify owls found in South Texas, discover the many benefits owls have on the environment, uncover common threats to owls and create an owl nesting box to install at their home. Class size will be limited to 10 nest boxes but couples/families may attend together. We ask that registered participants bring up to 4 additional attendees. This program will be in a lecture format with the use of tools and may not be suitable for children under 8 years old. This program is a rain or shine event. $77.50 resident / $96.89 non-resident 8+ years DFNC Sat., Nov. 2, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. HOME SCHOOL PROGRAMS Home School doesn’t mean you have to always stay home! Join our Park Naturalist at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center for our monthly Home School Programming. We will dive into various STEAM aligned topics to further our understanding of the natural world. Registration is only required for participating children and we ask that parents attend with their children. This program is a rain or shine event. Registration for each month’s program is done individually.Topics for Fall 2019: September : Invasive Species October: Texas Fish and Health of Aquatic Habitats November: WetlandEcosystemsatShadowCreekNatureTrail December Topic: Birding 101 $10 resident / $12.50 non-resident 5 – 18 years DFNC  Second Wednesday of each month, Sept. 11 – Dec. 11, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. NATURE NESTERS Nature Nesters is a program designed to engage little minds and bodies while learning about various topics of the natural world. Children and their parents will sing songs, read stories and create small crafts to help further their understanding. This program is free to all and no registration is required to attend. This program is a rain or shine event. A full program schedule can be found on the DFNC website at pearlandtx.gov/dfnc . Please be advised this program does not meet on the first Wednesday of each month. Free 4 years and under DFNC Ongoing Weekly, Wed./Thur./Fri., 10 – 10:30 a.m.

SCOUTING On select Saturdays this Fall, the DFNC will be offering Scouting workshops that meet a portion of the requirements for the Girl Scout Outdoor Adventurer Badge, Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award and the Boy Scout Reptile and Amphibian Study Merit Badge. The program will entail a tour of the Nature Center, small crafts, animal encounters and fun to be had all around. Parents/Troop Leaders are required to attend with their child/troop. Registration will be completed on the first-come, first-served basis, and troops wanting to attend together should coordinate their registration. Workshop size will be limited to 25 participants and are not guaranteed to be private. This program is a rain or shine event.
