MEITLER CATTLE COMPANY

We would like to invite you to join us April 11th at 1:00 pm at the ranch for our annual Meitler Maternal Bull and Female Sale. We would like to thank our long-time customers for their belief in Welcome to Meitler Cattle Company

our program. To those that may be finding us for the first time, we thank you for your interest and hope you like what you see. All of the cattle in the sale are home raised and are backed by generations of Meitler maternal Hereford and Angus cattle. We welcome anyone to come visit and see the cattle prior to sale day. Pictures and videos can be viewed at dvauction.com. The cattle will also be on display April 11th. The bulls have all been semen tested and are ready to go to work. We have grown them slowly to insure soundness and longevity. We breed the quality in, we do not feed it in. The bulls will sell in lot order. What an extraordinary time to be in the cattle business! With record calf prices and the expansion of the country’s cowherd set to begin, we believe our bulls can have tremendous value to the commercial cattleman. Whether you plan to keep your own replacement heifers or market them, our bulls will put you in a great marketing position. The steers they sire will also demand a premium at marketing time. A good set of black baldy steers will top just about any market anywhere. Again, this year we will be offering F-1 black baldy heifer pairs, fall bred black baldy heifers, and open black baldy replacement heifers for sale. These females will add maternal excellence

to any cowherd. They will be low input females that are bred to be fantastic momma cows. As an added bonus this year, we will also be offering a set of purebred Angus open replacement heifers. These heifers are 100% Diamond D Angus genetics (Montana). They will be very moderate framed, functional cows. Once again, we thank you for your interest in our breeding program and hope to see you April 11th at the ranch. Clint, Erika, Trey, Reid, and Ty Meitler Darris, Stacey, Jayden, and Jaxson Meitler

OUR HISTORY Meitler Cattle has been in the family for five generations. August Meitler homesteaded in North Central Kansas in the 1880’s. His son Fred and grandson Armin farmed and raised cattle for many years. Armin started in the registered Hereford business in 1932. Armin passed his love for Hereford cattle on to his son, Gene. Gene Meitler’s life passion was the genetics behind his pursuit of the perfect Hereford female. In the 1970’s, Gene went into some of the great Line 1 cow herds in Montana searching for the power cow families. He purchased older cows that had been proven in the iconic herds. His photographic memory of pedigrees and cows was like a superpower. He researched to find the common ancestors that

ARMIN MEITLER, AT AGE 20, PURCHASED TWO REGISTERED YEARLING HEIFERS IN 1932 FROM LEWIS WILLIAMS FOR $35.00 EACH. PAULINE DOMINO 8 WAS ONE OF THOSE COWS. THIS IS HER REGISTRY PAPER.

were most potent in carrying the maternal traits he desired. Gene then linebred these cow families more and more intensely. Many fell out over time. The ones that survived the environmental and linebreeding pressure continued on the ranch. What Gene ultimately created was one of the great maternal cow herds in the country. He became widely respected for his knowledge in linebreeding and Bonsma trait selection. As the cattle industry chased terminal traits, show ring banners, and EPD numbers, Gene never wavered in his belief of breeding maternal cattle. In 1986, Jim McDowell and Bow Creek Angus brought the first Angus cattle to the ranch. These Angus cows are the foundation of the angus genetics within the herd today. Present day owners of Meitler Cattle are Gene’s two sons Darris and Clint Meitler. Today the cowherd is comprised of over 700 Horned Hereford, Angus and Black Baldy cows both spring and fall calving. The purebred Hereford and Angus heifers are kept as replacements, and the black baldies are marketed as replacements with their superior maternal genetics from both breeds. Only the very best bulls are kept and sold or used back into the herd.

ARMIN MEITLER, PRESIDENT OF THE LINCOLN COUNTY HEREFORD ASSOCIATION. 1949

Steers are sold at a premium for their quality and uniformity. The cowherd has expanded over the years, but the maternal core has remained constant. Our longstanding program is simply based on the mother cow. Maternal, feminine, good uddered, docile, long-lasting cows. Carefully selecting the correct maternal genetics to bring into the herd is always top priority. Our program was built on generations of hard work and grit. Our cows are built on this same foundation to work hard and stand the test of time.

We partnered with Granzow Herefords (KS) to purchase 9164G in the 2020 Cooper (MT) sale. He was purchased for his unmatched maternal pedigree. We just finished calving his 6th calf crop and have many daughters in production. They are truly elite females. Dad always told us that you don’t really know how good a bull is until he is gone. His daughters and granddaughters will ultimately tell his story. With that said, 9164G has already established himself as one of the most impactful herd sires in our ranch history. We are just as excited about his sons. As you will see, they are very complete maternal bulls. We believe the 9164G sons will carry on his tremendous maternal traits. He has been used AI across the country with great success. Semen for sale.

• BW 86 • 415B is a big time herd bull prospect. A 9164G son that checks all the boxes. He is long sided with plenty of thickness. His mother #841 is a power cow. She is one of our top producers year after year. #841 is a daughter of our #176 cow, one of the best cows to ever walk our ranch. She is 15 years old and still in production! 9164G and #176 in the pedigree is as good as we can do it. 415B carries loads of maternal power and longevity. Never miss cow family makes 415B a can’t miss cow maker.

• BW 84 • 420B has always been a favorite. We believe great bulls are backed by great cows. 420B has a long line of great cows standing behind him. He comes from the same cow family and is a 15/16 brother to Lot 1. His mother is 7 years old and making her mark as one of our top cows. A full sister to 420B is perfect uddered and a standout 9164G daughter. If you want to make feminine range cows then 420B should be at the top of your list.

• BW 86 • 428B is an eye catching, attractive bull. Moderate in his frame. He comes from a top cow family that stacks many of the great Meitler bulls in it. Linebred Meitler genetics throughout the bottom side of his pedigree. His 11-year-old mother always raises one of the best and has numerous daughters in our herd. 428B has two full sisters that are elite cows and another in the replacement heifer pen. Great opportunity for proven and predictable maternal genetics with 428B.

• BW 88 • Here is a big, massive 9164G son. Tons of muscle and power. He is a stud. 413B is another bull that comes from one of our best cow families. Cow after cow that have really worked for us. 413B will give you pounds to sell and females to build a herd around. No guess work here, he is as predictable as you can make one.

A ¾ brother to Lots 1 & 2. Traces to a Jamison cow that started a really nice cow family for us. His calves will crush down the scale.

• BW 84 • 430B is a long sided, free moving 9164G son out of one of our very best cows. Full brother was the Lot 1 bull in our 2025 sale. 430B will mature into a powerful bull and should last for a long time. His daughters will make dynamite replacements. Same cow family as Lot 4.

• BW 90 • 425B comes from an outstanding commercial cow family. He is long sided and deep chested. His mother has as much volume and capacity as any cow we own. 425B will put guts and pounds into his calves. MEITLER CATTLE COMPANY Heifer Pairs

30 - F-1 BLACK BALDY HEIFER PAIRS These heifer pairs really represent what our breeding program is all about, maternal females. They are what our bulls will produce, and what the fall-bred heifers and open replacement heifers will become. Feminine, good uddered, easy conditioning, long lasting momma cows. Females like this don’t happen overnight, it takes time. They are the result of many many years of breeding and selecting for functional females. We believe that fertility, longevity, and hybrid vigor are what the commercial cowherd needs above all else. These heifer pairs check all those boxes. Recips in a registered herd, a terminal cross program, maternal breeding program, or a grass finish operation, their possibilities are endless. They are the best of the best. The calves are all sired by an O C C Paxton son. The bull calves have been banded and the heifers will be replacement quality. The calves are February/March born. (calving list provided sale day) The heifers have not been exposed back and sell open, ready to breed. They carry no brands and will sell in groups of 5.

The hard work is all done, these heifers are ready to go to work and be productive cows for many years. Bulls were turned in November 24 nd for a September 1 st start and pulled 75 days later. They are bred to 3 proven low birthweight Registered Angus bulls. The blacks and black baldies will be sold separately. They have been OCHV’d, pelvic examined, and carry no brands.
