Eddie Cole Turns 100
I n the year 1920, many significant events occurred in the United States. The United States passed two amendments (18 th for prohibition and 19th for the right for women to vote). • Charles Ponzi came up with what we know today as the “Ponzi Scheme” • The first baseball game of the Negro League was played in Indianapolis, Indiana • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is founded at Howard University • Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Chapter Polemarch Brother Lenwarto Gayle presented Brother Cole with a resolution and 70-year Alumni Pin from the University of Toledo. Beta Xi Chapter Advisor Brother Stephen Powell
presented Brother Cole with various gifts from the Beta Xi Chapter. Lastly, Brother Stan Gaines (representing the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter), present- ed Brother Cole with gifts from Detroit Alumni. The Northern Province and Grand Chapter were represented by the following Brothers: Northern Province Polemarch Kevin D. Kyles, 19 th North- ern Province Polemarch, Past Grand Board Member and 110 th Elder Watson Diggs Awardee E. Ken Glass, Jr.
established four undergraduate chapters at Temple University (Lambda), The University of Kansas (Mu), Purdue University (Nu), and Howard University (Xi)
100 YEARS
On October 1, 1920 in Belzoni, Mis- sissippi, a male child is born and named Eddie Cole Jr. Eddie would go on to be the Valedictorian of his high school class and eventually make his way to Toledo, Ohio where he would pledge Kappa in 1947 at the Toledo University Chapter, the Beta Xi of Kappa Alpha Psi. Brother Cole would go on to become a lawyer and practice law for 60 years receiving many accolades along the way. On October 1, 2020, Brother Eddie Cole Jr. celebrated his 100 th birthday. On October 3, 2020, the Toledo (OH) Alumni Chapter with support of various chapters from the Northern Province, celebrated for a brief time with Brother Cole and his family.
