Wayne Purcell gained his early professional experience as a manufacturing engineer, working with race teams at the Indianapolis 500 on composite materials to improve the aerodynamics of Indy cars. Today, he heads a company making an innovative insole he designed to improve the dynamics of the human foot in motion. As president of AIRfeet insoles, Purcell has expanded the company’s markets to marathon runners, industrial workers, firefighters and other first responders, Air Force and Army members, and people with ailments ranging from neuropathy and plantar fasciitis to diabetes. Purcell claims the impact of the insoles is life-changing.

At regional and national trade shows we attend with AIRfeet, Wayne doesn’t draw crowds quite as big as Indy 500 ones, but his floor-mounted demo platform never fails to attract a steady stream of interested visitors. Those who rock back and forth on the platform’s two stationary AIRfeet insoles experience the same sensation as if they were wearing them. AIRfeet began distributing its insoles to chiropractors after encountering us at a chiropractor meeting in Indiana. “We are extremely committed to chiropractors as a market,” Purcell says. AIRfeet products are offered in about 50 chiropractic clinics nationwide and are expanding rapidly.
