household exactly matched the children in William Holliday’s household in 1790, two sons and five daughters. 24 John Holliday’s household, Elizabeth’s family, was first enumerated in the 1800 U.S. census of Edgefield District, South Carolina. This census spelled his name Holledy. John was head of household, male age 26 though 45. A female of the same age range, probably Elizabeth’s mother, was in his household. In 1800, including Elizabeth, they probably had eight children, four sons and four daughters. 25 Elizabeth’s probable parents still lived in Edgefield District in 1810. John was age 45 and over and a female of the same age range lived in his household. Since 1800, three of their four daughters and one of their sons, John Jr., had left home. 26 Elizabeth was one of those daughters. She and John Jr. had moved across the county line into Abbeville District. 27 As Elizabeth Holliday and Elizabeth (Holliday) Osborn, Elizabeth never appeared in records. The first time she appeared by name was when she was 46 years old, “Paid Elizabeth Redmond the widow of S. Osborn her portion [of] Estate $136.50.” 28 As E. Redman, she appeared for the second time in a record as head of household in the 1840 U.S. census of the county. In the next censuses, she was Elizabeth Redmon and Eliza Redmond respectively in her son-in-law’s households. 29 She died a few months after 24 1800 U.S. census, Edgefield District, South Carolina, p. 164, Sarah Holledy [Holliday]; digital image, Ancestry.com (access through participating libraries : 8 November 2017); citing NARA microfilm publication M32, roll 47. 25 1800 U.S. census, Edgefield Dist., S.C., p. 164, John Holledy [Holliday]. 26 1810 U.S. census, Edgefield District, South Carolina, p. 15 (penned), John Holloday [Holliday]; digital image, Ancestry.com (access through participating libraries : 1 May 2018; citing FHL microfilm 0181421.
