Complementary Family Information Louisa Jane and L.D. had six children. The boys did not reach maturity. 40 The girls, Rowena, Luemma, Eleanor and Fannie, had many things in common. All married and married businessmen. Three husbands at times were business partners. Eleanor, Fannie and their husbands were active Methodists. Luemma, nicknamed Ludie, 41 and Fannie shared an interest in knowing more about their father. They applied for and were accepted into membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as descendants of Elizabeth Bryant who married Louis Lafayette Merriman. DAR proof standards then were not what they are today. Later research proved Elizabeth married another man. 42 Rowena Elizabeth Merriman, the oldest, was born 10 July 1846. In the 1860 U.S. census of Abbeville District, she was R.E. Merriman, female, age 14. 43 In 1865, she married Kentucky native John H. Oldham. 44 (http://www.newspapers.com : 19 September 2020), p. 8, col. 1. Also, Greenwood Co., S.C. Cemetery Records , 2:61. 40 Greenwood Co., S.C.
