Rowena Elizabeth and John moved to Alabama where they lived for the rest of their lives. John died 22 September 1918 and Rowena Elizabeth died 7 September 1922. Both were buried in Roanoke, Alabama. 51 Frank C. Merriman, the second child, was born 28 February 1849 and died 26 September 1866. He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery where his brother and parents were buried. 52 Third child Ludie Merriman was born 15 July 1851 in Greenwood and died 20 July 1920 in Seneca. 53 She married Mathew W. Coleman in 1872. 54 He was born about 1840 in Edgefield District and died 23 November 1901 in Charleston. 55 In the Civil War, Mathew served from 1861 to 1865 primarily in a quartermaster capacity in the 7 th infantry regiment.
