Champlain Township council has voted to have a report done on the possibility of closing the L’Orignal Campground in 2024 because it is no longer profitable for the municipality. At this time, the L’Orignal Campground represents a loss of approximately $50,000 to the municipality according to an analysis report presented at the January 17 Commit- UFFPGUIF8IPMFDPVODJMTFTTJPO#BTFEPO the review, during its next regular meeting council will consider a recommendation that 7 of the 10 transitional lots be transformed into seasonal lots by 2023, and that the other three lots be converted into green space for the users of the campground. The transitional lots generate more revenue for the municipality, but they also generate more expenses in employment costs. Converting the 10 transitional lots would reduce expenses for the township by almost $32,000, and reduce the municipa- lity’s annual loss from the campground to approximately $24,000. Plusieurs dizaines de personnes se sont rassemblées près de la colline du Parlement au cours du weekend du 29 janvier, pour marquer le premier anniversaire du blocus du Freedom Convoy à Ottawa, qui avait duré plusieurs semaines. L’objectif initial du blocus était de protester contre les règles de vaccination obligatoire des camionneurs transfrontaliers, mais l’événement a été repris par divers groupes politiques dont les revendications allaient de l’annulation de toutes les mesures de santé publique contre le COVID-19 à la demande de démission du gouvernement. Plusieurs leaders du blocus font maintenant face à des accusations criminelles. Au cours du weekend, à Hawkesbury, des inconnus ont placardé des affiches anti-vaccination sur les portes d’entrée et les fenêtres du bureau de Service Canada, au centre-ville, et de l’immeuble situé à l’angle des rues Cameron et Aberdeen, qui abrite les bureaux des Éditions André Paquette et de Radio Canada.
