A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
It was lovely to see Year 7 returning from their half-term break refreshed and hear them sharing news about what they’ve been up to. There were some interesting stories indeed! This week the Year 7 Netball team faced Orleans Park in the first league game of the season. It was a very tough match and everyone tried their best. Unfortunately the team lost, we wish them well for their next game. Please remind your child that they can be awarded epraise in lessons, form times and extra-curricular activities for: working collaboratively, great work and homework, supporting each other, engagement in activities, helping in the classroom, and supporting the teacher/ tutor. We will update Epraise totals in next week’s bulletin.
Congratulations to Chloe C 7FLY who won the bookmark competition before half-term!
On March 6th it is World Book Day. Year 7 students will each be given a token which can be used at our Book Fair (from 10 March), giving them £1 off any book they purchase or they can use it in any shop to claim one of the special World Book Day books.
Good luck to the Year 7/8 Cricket team who will be playing in the Richmond Schools Sports Partnership tournament on Monday after school next week!
MRS BASHFORD-HYNES, HEAD OF YEAR 7
BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘My name is Mina’ by David Almond
In the form of a journal, this book is a prequel for the book Skellig, and focuses on the character Mina before she has met Michael and Skellig. It focuses on her troubles with school and family and shines a light on her creativity. It is a fun, but serious book all at the same time and has many different forms of creativity like poetry and made-up stories. Overall, it’s a very personal and emotive tale, with lots of much needed honesty about school and the stories that are missed of kids who struggle in school.
