Počev od debitantskog „The Smiths“ singla „Hand In Glove“, Morisi je svetsku riznicu rokenrola kroz decenije obogatio pravim hi- mnama uz koje su stasavale gene- racije poput „This Charming Man“, „How Soon Is Now?“, „There Is A Light That Never Goes Out“, „Sue- dehead“, „Everyday Is Like Sun- day“, „Irish Blood, English Heart“, „First of The Gang to Die“...

Morrissey famously said that he would rather break his vow of vege- tarianism than reform The Smiths, but in August last year he posted a note claiming that there was a “lu- crative offer” to both Morrissey and Marr to reunite for a Smiths world tour in 2025. Marr said no and Mor- rissey explained in one of the few in- terviews why he actually wanted the Smiths to close again... “I agreed because it felt like the last time such a thing would be pos- sible. We’ve all begun to grow old. I thought the tour that was offered would be a good way of saying thank you for those who’ve listened for what suddenly feels like a lifetime. It wasn’t because I had any emotion- al attachment to Marr. I have abso- lutely none.” Either way, all Smiths fans are left to regret not being able to watch them together again, though we at least have the consolation of being able to hang out with Morrissey in Belgrade!
The legendary Morrissey is set to return to Belgrade after more than a decade! The famous British rocker will hold an 8 th July concert at Kale- megdan Fortress, in the area of Don- ji Grad, organised by Long Play. The performance in the Serbian capital has been scheduled as part of a Eu- ropean tour that includes 22 con- certs and will run from the end of spring and throughout the summer. Considered one of the most in- fluential figures in British pop, Mor- rissey (65) ranks among the great- est songwriters in the history of rock music. He first marked the history of music as the singer of cult group The Smiths, with only four albums in the period from 1982 to 1987. This was followed by an impressive solo career with 13 albums, while his entire ca- reer was rounded off by the Ivor No- vello Award for his outstanding con- tribution to British music. He is also a great supporter of animal rights, which led to him last year receiving the Social Vanguard Award, in recog- nition of his activities in that area.
Starting with the Smiths’ debut single Hand In Glove, Morrissey has enriched the world’s treasure trove of rock ‘n’ roll over the decades with true anthems that generations have grown up with, such as This Charm- ing Man, How Soon Is Now?, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, Suede- head, Everyday Is Like Sunday, Irish Blood, English Heart, First of the Gang to Die and many more. Ever since The Smiths ended their five-year career in 1987, spec- ulation has been rife as to whether the group would ever reunite. Why? Because the audience loves them to- day and they are worshiped by chil- dren who weren’t even born when they broke up. Highly regarded as one of the finest English bands of the ’80s, and one of the most criti- cally-acclaimed indie bands ever, The Smiths’ legacy is as enduring as their career was brief. However, desire for history to repeat has been strong, and in the ensuring decades count- less reports of rumoured and poten- tial reunions have emerged.
