HEAD LICE •
EMPLOYEE SAFETY & SUPPORT SERVICES
Any staff member who suspects a student has head lice should immediately contact the office • Families of students with head lice will be contacted to pick up their child • Children with head lice cannot return to school until treatment has commenced • Notices will be issued to each student in the cohort where head lice are prevalent • A visit by the Whittlesea Council nurse for head lice checks will be organised once a year on the Primary Campus INCIDENT REPORTING & RISK MANAGEMENT All staff are responsible for identifying and reporting hazards. Report injuries, near misses, or unsafe conditions in Compass and EduSafe Plus within 24 hours. Inform OHS Representatives for follow-up. Maintain confidentiality when incidents involve students or staff. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT Understand the Emergency Management Plan and key roles (e.g., Wardens, First Aid). Location of emergency phones and defibrillator (AED). Know evacuation signals and assembly areas. Review the process for reporting hazards and incidents in Compass or on eduSafe Plus.
OH&S Advisory Service: A dedicated Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Advisory Service is available to all employees This service is focused on providing effective and timely advice to Principals, Managers, and employees on any aspect of workplace health, safety, and wellbeing The service is operated by the Department’s OH&S support service provider, Marsh Pty Ltd, and is available Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (excluding public holidays) A call back service is available outside these times For assistance with any health, safety, or wellbeing issue, please contact the OH&S Advisory Service on 1300 074 715 or email safety@education.vic.gov.au Conflict Resolution Support Service: The Conflict Resolution Support is available to assist all Department employees to address workplace conflict, including disputes and miscommunications that impact on wellbeing and work performance. This service can provide the following: • Mediation • Case conferencing and facilitated meetings • Conflict coaching • Team conflict intervention To request the assistance of a trained facilitator and/ or mediator, Principals and Managers should call the service provider, Converge International, on 1300 687 633 or via email at mediation@convergeintl. com.au
