PERFORMANCE & DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

COACHING MODELS / LEARNING WALKS / PEER FEEDBACK At The Lakes, we learn best by learning from each other. Coaching, learning walks, and peer feedback are central to our culture of continuous improvement. They provide structured opportunities for teachers to observe practice, reflect on impact, and refine instruction in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Our coaching model is grounded in trust, curiosity, and shared purpose — not evaluation.

Learning Walks are short, focused observations designed to capture what’s working well and identify collective next steps across teams.

Reflection and feedback are part of how we grow — not an event, but a habit. We reflect on our impact, seek input from colleagues, and use evidence to refine our craft. Feedback is viewed as professional care — honest, respectful, and aimed at improvement, not evaluation. Staff are encouraged to engage in regular self-reflection using the VTLM 2.0, HITS, and student learning data as mirrors for practice. Learning walks, coaching conversations, and student feedback all contribute to a culture of continuous growth. We talk about our practice openly, learn from one another, and stay curious about how we can keep getting better.

AT THE LAKES THIS LOOKS LIKE:

A learning community that grows together.

Feedback is welcomed, not feared.

We invest in our craft, reflect on our impact, and use data and dialogue to improve — not to judge, but to move forward.

Every teacher is a learner, every learner is capable of excellence.
