There are some who realize they are sinners, but think their sinful condition will be changed if they give money to the church. Here is a dollar bill. We will let the “U” put it in the collection plate. He is as black as ever. Others often think that the wearing of beauti ful clothes will take away sin or will keep it from mattering so much- We will place this beautiful silk handker chief around the sinful “U,” only to find that it is unchanged. If the sinner is ever to love God with all his heart» soul, strength, and mind, there must be a great change. See, something is happening. [Fold as pre viously described.] The black "U” is gone and a red cross appears. When sin is covered with the blood of Christ, God no longer sees the sin—He sees only the cross of Christ. The one whose life is thus changed can love God and his neighbor as the Bible requires. 7; Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12; 9:29, and oth ers of like import. The disciples watched the Lord Jesus as He prayed, and His mere example aroused their sense of ignorance and inability, and filled them with the desire to know how to pray. n. By F ormula — or . 2Va inches farther—measuring from the outside edge—which will bring the up right bar to the center of the "U. Fol low the same procedure with the left side. This should bring the two side bars to the center, giving the appear- ance of a capital “T” upside down. Fold the foot of the “T” 6% inches from the end of the foot, folding it toward you. This will make a red cross.' After creas ing the “U,” unfold before the lesson begins.) LESSON: What is the matter with this big “U” ? “It is black, reminding us of a sin ner.” The Bible says, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy s o u l , and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and ►thy neighbor as thyself” (Lk. 10:27). What is a sinner like this “U” going to do when he reads this message in the Word of God? Lake 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one o f his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach ns to pray, as John also ta tight h is. disciples. 2 And' he said nnto them, TVhen ye pray, say, Oar Father which art in heaven, H al lowed he thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will he done, as in hearen, so in earth. 2 Give us day by day oar dally bread, 1- And forgive as oar sins: for we also forgive every one that is indebted to as. And lead us not inti temptation; but deliver us from evil. , • And he said unto them. W hich of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him. Friend, lend me three loaves; * FOr a friend of mine in his .ioarney Is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him ! I And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his Importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, A sk , and it shall he given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 16 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findelh; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. II If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone! or If he ask a fish, win he for a fish give him a serpent! 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion! 18 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children; how much more shall your heavenly Father give the H oly Spirit to them that ask him ! LESSON TE XT: Lk. 11:1-13. GO LD EN T E X T : “ Ask. and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Lk. 11:9). DEVOTIONAL READING: Fsa. 121.
