LESSON STORY: Let us open one of these treasures marked “Peace, from the Prince of Peace.” It contains a precious promise that our heavenly Father, who feeds the little birds and ____
waiting for the lord "when he will re turn from the wedding.” This seeming contradiction disappears when we un derstand the ancient Jewish wedding ceremony. This consisted of two -parts: first, a celebration at the home of the bride; and second, a celebration at the new home of the bridegroom. Thus the friends of the bridegroom were accus tomed to wait for the bridegroom as he came with his bride from the first ceremony that they might go in with them to the second ceremony. In the Matthew parable the waiting people are called “virgins,” and they must be identified therefore with the “virgins” of Revelation 14, the 144,000 chosen from'the tribes of Israel (Rev. 7). They wait on earth during the tribulation judgments until the Bridegroom comes “from the wedding” in the bride’s heavenly home (Rev. 19), in order that they may go in with Him “to the mar riage feast” (Matt. 25:10, R. V.) which will be held on earth in His house which is the “house of David.” The Bible is always its own best interpreter. 3. "That servant, which knew his lord’s will . . . shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not . . shall be beaten with few stripes” (vs. 47, 48). We have here two impor tant principles of final judgment: First, ignorance of the divine law will not excuse the sinner. And second, men will not only be judged according to deeds, but also according to the light they have enjoyed. Dwight L. Moody was preaching to a great crowd in one of his meetings. He was putting his very soul into it as he always did. He was thinking more about the content of his message and of its effect upon the hearts of men than about the precise literary form of it. There was a certain fastidious gentle man sitting on the platform that night, and at the close of the service he went to Mr. Moody and said, “By the way, I noticed that you made eleven mistakes in grammar in your sermon tonight.” “Very likely,” replied Mr. Moody. “1 don’t doubt it for a minute. My early education was faulty. I often wish that I had received more schooling. But I am using all the grammar I know in the service of Christ. How is it with you?”—New Century Leader. After Christmas L uke 12 MEMORY VERSE: “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matt. 10:8). APPROACH: Did you ever receive a big Christmas package with many dif férent gifts in it? The great gift sent to us by God the Father was His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him are precious hidden treasures. G old en T e x b 'IH u s tr a tio n L uke 12:48

clothes the flowers with loveliness, will feed and clothe us. He tells us not to worry, for He will take care of us. “ Seek ye the king dom of God; and all these things [food and clothing] shall be added unto you.”
The, “IF” in God’s promise is that “IF” we will let the Lord Jesus be King in our hearts and do what He says is right, then all things that we need 5 bivision will be given to us. . Disobedient people run away and won’t let God take care of them, and then they blame Him because they are in need. But God is kind even to the unthankful ones. If your heavenly Father has blessed you richly, it is to give you the joy of sharing with others, remembering that your heavenly Father freely gave good gifts to you. Another treasure hidden in the Lord Jesus Christ is LIFE. "God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” (1 John 5:11). Life in heaven is a free gift from our Father, IF we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, but “he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 John 5:12). If we have received the gift of life in God’s Son, we will look for His return from heaven. The Holy Spirit will help us to get ready with joy to welcome Him and in the meantime to tell oth ers in order that they also may be ready to share the same blessing. * A 44 /*.
