Summer Daycamps pg 12-13


WELCOME! All of our day camps provide a fun, safe, active, inclusive and positive environment for children. Our wish is that at the end of the summer your child will have truly enjoyed their experience. We look forward to meeting both you and your child! We are excited about the opportunities we have planned for the summer and are confident that our day camps will be both a fun and memorable experience for all our participants. THINGS TO BRING TO CAMP:

DAILY HELLO’S To ensure the safe arrival and departure of all campers, parents will be met at the sign in location to initial our attendance sheet. Older participants who have written permission from a parent/guardian to travel on their own will have their arrival time recorded. If you know in advance that your child will be absent please notify the camp staff. Follow up phone calls will be made if a participant is absent and staff have not been notified. MEDICAL INFORMATION Health and safety are priorities for Pitt Meadows Parks & Recreation If your child develops a communicable disease while registered in camp (pink eye, hand foot and mouth disease, etc.) we ask that you inform staff immediately. This will allow our staff to inform other participants and allow them to take the necessary precautions. SUN SENSE Sunscreen should be brought daily and applied regularly. We encourage you to show your child how to properly apply sunscreen. Staff will remind participants throughout the day to re-apply their own sunscreen. If indicated, staff may assist younger campers with sunscreen application. LOST & FOUND Please note we are not responsible for lost or damaged items. We will put any lost and found items out for display daily during your child’s camp. After that we will hold all items for 1 week and then send any unclaimed items to a local charity. Due to large volumes of lost & found items we simply cannot hold on to everything for longer than 1 week. TOILETING Children must be fully toilet trained to attend all programs not requiring parent/guardian supervision. RAINY DAYS The sun does not have to be shining to have a good time at camp! All camp programs will continue to run during inclement weather, unless otherwise notified. Please dress your child appropriately.

QUALITY SUPERVISION Our staff to participant ratios reflects our commitment to safe, high-quality program supervision. Our school age camp ratio is one leader to twelve participants (1:12). The camp ratio for our pre-school camps is one leader to eight participants (1:8). Our camp ratios are supplemented with support from responsible leadership volunteers. REGISTRATION PACKAGES All of our programs require parents/guardians to fill out forms. To save time on the first day of camps we recommend that the registration package be filled in, signed and ready to hand in on the first day. For the safety of all participants, authorized pick-up persons may be asked to produce photo ID. Forms can be downloaded on line at PARENT PARTICIPATION The majority of our programs are drop-off programs and do not involve parent participation unless noted in the Recreation Guide.
