DEFINITION Enterprise is your ability and desire to do dangerous or novel things or to solve problems in smart new ways. Someone who takes something between their own hands is an entrepreneur . An enterprising genius is willing to put in place solutions to problems others back away from because of worry of failure, fear of loss, or concern with what others might think. WORD ORIGIN The word comes from Old French entreprendre meaning “to undertake,” from entre meaning “in-between” + pren- dre “to take.”
