6. OPTIMISM – The Optimism of Helen Keller
As remarkable as her life had been up to this point, Helen’s focus was on even greater things. The world had heard about Helen. Now the world would meet her and be inspired by her optimism. She published 14 books and gave speeches on human rights. She won the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the French Legion of Honor. Mark Twain called her the eighth wonder of the world. Winston Churchill named her the greatest woman of our age. “ Thus, my optimism is grounded in two worlds, myself and what is about me. I demand that the world be good, and lo, it obeys. I proclaim the world good, and facts range themselves to prove my proclamation overwhelmingly true.” — Helen Keller
