Mr Thando Madonsela, former Senior Manager and Lead Consultant CEO at HDA, gave remarks on behalf of the alumni. “The scope within this sector is broader than you might think. Networking, fundraising, and mentorship are vital. There is a wealth of knowledge to be passed on, making human capital invaluable,” he said. The evening was concluded with a vote of thanks from Nell Ledwaba, Senior Manager: Faculty Coordination and Alumni.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Prof Clinton O. Aigbavboa, Director of the Centre of Excellence & Sustainable Human Settlement and Construction Research Centre at the University of Johannesburg. “It is with gratitude that I stand before you this evening. I view this dinner event as a special occasion organised by the Affinity Group in collaboration with UJ alumni. This is a night for reconnection and celebration. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the organisers for their hard work and dedication. I would also like to acknowledge the presence of our distinguished alumni. The School of Engineering and the Built Environment, which I represent, is making significant strides within the faculty. The work of planners is crucial to the fabric of our society,” he said.
