For what does God commend the Bechabites? (Jer. 35:1-14.) 3. What command does God give to His leaders in Lev. 10:8, 9? 4. Discuss the commands of Numbers 6:1-3; Judges 13:4-14. 5. 'What is the meaning of B.om. 14:21; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Gal. 5:21? 6. Does the Bible speak out against the use of strong drink? (Hah. 2:15; Prov. 20:1; Isa. 5:11, 22, 23; Prov. 23:29-33; Prov. 31:4, 5.) 7. What does the Bible say as to the reason for drunkenness? (Isa. 5:12.) 8. What was the evil consequence of Israel’s sin of drink? (Isa. 5:13, 14.) Is this not going to he true of America if the liquor traffic is not stopped? 9. Why should the Christian not drink? (1 Pet. 1:15, 16.) 10. WTiat is the argument of 1 Cor. 6:19, 20 as to why the believer is to abstain from drink and all unclean things? 11. Discuss in your meeting other arguments for total abstinence. Of course, the Christian is thankful to God every day of his life, or ought to be. The believer is grateful for temporal blessings enjoyed in this great nation, but he is exceedingly thankful for spiritual blessings enjoyed in the Lord Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the cross. STUDY QUESTIONS 1. Make a list of the many physical and temporal blessings we enjoy in this nation that are not known by most of the peoples of the world. 2. Now, make a list of the spiritual blessings which belong to every believer in the Lord JesuS Christ. Discuss each of these priceless things. ’Why not have a few moments of prayer every now and then in the meeting to thank God for the blessings you have just been discussing? 3. Discuss the meaning of Bom. 8:32 and Eph. 1:3.
