HOK Marketing Principal Filled - September / December 2018 Brief:
HOK is a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm. With offices around the globe, they create a better world through the design of buildings and spaces that
respond to the needs people and the environment. HOK work on some of the some of the most prestigious projects globally, with three recently being nominated for the Architizer A+ Awards, including the ADNOC Headquarters, Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Abu Dhabi’s Yas Arena. The London studio’s recent projects include The Francis Crick Institute, Palace of Westminster Committee Rooms and the Kuwait University College of Architecture. Our brief was to identify a Marketing Principal to join the senior leadership and deliver a strategic and proactive business development programme. The Marketing Principal was to champion the business development, bidding, marketing, knowledge capture and public relationship activities of the HOK London studio. Process and outcome: To secure the right person for HOK we undertook a comprehensive Search and Selection Campaign over a period of four weeks, delivered via a direct approach and Advertisement /Digital Media Campaign. The direct approach campaign focused on candidates in comparable Director roles both within other Architectural Practices and out of sector within large multi-disciplinary design consultancies. We also approached those currently responsible for delivering marketing and business development strategies across specific sectors that HOK operated in. During the research phase of the campaign we approached 129 people who matched the criteria, managed 69 advert response from our mrgpeople.co.uk website and HOK’s and MRG’s LinkedIn pages, meeting 17 candidates for screening interviews. The appointment: We met with HOK’s Managing Principal, HR Director and Financial Principal to discuss a shortlist of 6 candidates for final consideration, four of which were selected for first stage interview and two of those taken through to second stage interview. The successful candidate was one of those approached via a direct approach. She was an all rounded work winning professional working in Marketing and Business Development roles in the Real Estate, Architectural and Design Engineering Consultancy world.
The candidate joined HOK in December 2018 and is currently working closely with HOK’s leaders to develop new business while serving clients in key market sectors across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.
