MUSEUMS ON MACKINAC ISLAND MACKINAC STATE HISTORIC PARKS Six “living history” museums offer spirited reenactments, authentic build- ings, and colorful characters of old. Fort Mackinac and Historic Mackinac downtown buildings: the Biddle House, Benjamin Blacksmith Shop, American Fur Company Store/ Dr. Beaumont Museum, McGulpin House, and Mission Church. For details, call 231-436-4100 GRAND HOTEL HORSE CARRIAGE MUSEUM Located next to Surrey Hills, this working facility is home to Grand Hotel’s 12 horses and is open to the public. It’s a great way to see the horses up close, along with 20 antique carriag- es from Grand Hotel and Mackinac Island Carriage Tours. Free admission. THE HORSE IN HISTORY MUSEUM Located at the Mackinac Equestrian Center showing Mackinac’s unique horse culture. Unique Island maps from several eras, an interesting contrast of changes over the years and show- cases the historic location on the Dousman/Early Farm. Several unique carriages on display, including a horse drawn ambulance! 906-847-8034 IMAGES OF FAITH MUSEUM Located at Ste. Anne Church. The displays highlight the religious history of Mackinac. Records date back to 1695 and show the settlement of the Island through its immigrant population. Free of charge & open to the public. 906-847-3507 MACKINAC ARTS COUNCIL GALLERY Located adjacent to the Theater at Mission Point Resort, this free gallery fea- tures various themes and artists’ works on display. Open Monday - Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m. RICHARD & JANE MANOOGIAN MACKINAC ART MUSEUM Three level art museum showcases historic treasures from Mackinac State Historic Parks. Free admission when you show your Mackinac Island hotel room key. 906-847-3185 STUART HOUSE MUSEUM Original 1817 headquarters of John Jacob Astor’s Fur Trading Company.
