Treatment includes the passage of a NG tube to allow the stomach contents to be drawn out and provide immediate relief of the pressure on the stomach wall. Irrigation and flushing of the stomach as well as giving mineral oil will help treat S&S of grain engorgement. Horses with intestinal obstruction need to be treated with medications, mineral oil or surgery. NSAIDs and fluids should be given for symptomatic relief. Horses that have experienced a gastric rupture should be humanly ________________ immediately once diagnosis is confirmed as there is no treatment.
